yr 1995 USA C36 ECU plugged into yr 1994 Japan C36

Hello C36 Experts,

Does anyone happen to know if the ECU from my year 1995 C36 can plug into a production 1994 C36 Japan spec and work properly?

Appreciate any feedback on this.

My friend's 1994 C36 Japan spec has a faulty ECU.

Interesting question. Hard to answer as we did not have 94 C36's in the US. I would start by cross referencing the US 95 C36 ECU part number to see if there are any other vehicles being listed as compatible. Same for the 94 C36.

Many times these parts fit multiple vehicles. Due to gas quality and emissions requirements, that might impact your results. I would be more focused on JDM spec C36's, that is, is the 94 ECU compatible with the 95.

Sorry to ask, how would I cross reference the ECU part numbers to C36 models?

Also, it seems yr 94 Japan C36 cars have VDO ECU and USA 95 cars have Bosch
