Hi Gents and @gsxr

Thank you in advanced for your expertise opinions..

do you think based on these pics extra 10mm or 0.4 inch negative offset would work ok without fender rub issues?

Currently rear wheels tires are 18x9 et35 AMG monoblock. I am looking at 18x9 et25 since I think the wheels sit too far behind the fender.

appreciate the feedback.

ET25 is too much, max I used was 8.5x17 ET35 which already looked almost to the fender.
thanks for the reply.
im at 18x9 et35. no issues at all but from my pics it looks still slightly too much behind the fender. so I was assuming et30 or et25 would work.

I really do not know for sure - I've never owned a 202 chassis. Based on your photo, you MIGHT be able to push that tire out another 10mm, but that would be pushing the limits. Tire sidewall shape may have a significant effect on what will clear vs what will not, so keep that in mind too. If the rear fender lips are not yet rolled, you may need to roll them completely flat and maybe try to push them out a bit.

In either case, you may not get rubbing on smooth roads in a straight line... rubbing is more of a concern with hitting dips/bumps that compress the rear suspension, especially with any kind of load (i.e., rear passengers).

:seesaw:

Chassis Alignment and camber setup is a factor as well. I am dealing with a slight rub in the S55 AMG with the Lorinser RS8s, rear camber must be adjusted but I don't have the adjustment bolts : /

what size offset are your lorinser wheels? any pics of how close to fender is the wheel tire?

Youll be fine. I run ET25 in the rear on a 18x10 wheel. tire is 265/35/18. It DID rub when the car was slammed but I slightly raised it and its ok now.

So...with that being said, yours will be fine at that height. I cant upload any pics from here but there is tons of my red c43 on my instagram @norcalamg. You can find some rly high res stuff of the fitment.

I guess you can see some pics here in my old thread that I need to update

Hello @PJmak awesome thread! thoroughly enjoyed this. So glad you saved a C43. Definitely worth saving!

I plan on dropping the rear another 1/4 inch or, hopefully just changing rear spring pad would do the trick!
I am 18x9 et35 with stock AMG monoblock wheels. going to et25 should work then based on your information since it will be the same as your 18x10 et25 but my wheel is 1 inch less width overall, which means 1/2 inch less outwards to fender.

maybe do negative offset et30 5mm just to be safe no rubbing?

thank you again.

A side note: the W202 AMG can really move! The most precise handling car I have ever owned. During the Mille Miglia rallye/race we chased a 700hp 991 Techart Turbo, and were taking curves at 160km/h.
wow! which w202 AMG did you drive at that time? @195910

My 97 5-Speed C36. I then drove it around 25K km is 18 month, good thing I bought the S55 to take the load off it.
Ride height is lower than it should be, I think the springs are weak. Other than that it is a tough little car, I was getting stuck in traffic everyday for at least 3 hours, summers reaching 50C, Mashallah.

1997 C36 sure is special. S55 is a beast. damn lol
you are so lucky to have owned a 1997 C36. Very difficult to find. Made in very small numbers globally. @195910

The pictures above you provided, is that how it sits with spacers in?

Ah ok. the wheel itself at 9 inch wide with a 10mm spacer will not rub. It all depends onthe tire you put on there.

With 265/35/18, my car rubbed quite a bit when I lowered it. After raising it, its fine. I think if I went down to 255/35, I would have been fine lowered. These wheels were used on 202s from faactory even on the f1 safety and medical cars back in w202 days

ok perfect.
I got 255 35 r18 Goodyear summer performance.

so 10mm extra would be it then.
thank you so much

In this picture youll see the fitment better. Ir rubbed in this configuration quite a bit. It was pretty low as you can see.

18x10 ET25 265/35/18
thanks for this pic. yes. i see from the pic why it would rub. But since this pic, you already raised the rear 1/4 incn or so and it doesnt rub anymore?

also, why not use 255 / 35 tires. thats actually what Tirerack recommends. that is the correct 25 inch total wheel tire diameter.

(also, so cool F1 race car C36 is cool that they used these 18x8.5 18x10 wheels back in the 1990s!)

thank you @PJmak

Yep I raised it since this pic and no rubbing under normal driving. If under any circumstances the rear end would be forced to sag down, it would probably rub.

I always had 265/35/18 on my 202s. My old black c43 ran that setup on the 18x9 et35 monoblock II and it didnt rub. I had it pretty low.
