... indeed, the world DOES seem to be coming to an end. :lightning:

This is an M104 rear main (crankshaft) seal, received from MB via parts.com. It's a personal first, for me.

Luckily I have a German-made Elring rear main seal also in hand.....

Cheers,
Gerry

Gerry

Unfortunately its the way things are now for MB. If you had a new car lots of the parts are made in China. I was told by an Alabama factory tech that a supplier in china is responsible for all of the aluminum wheels that go on SUV's in Alabama...its crazy.

First? Really? For me, the Chinese made / MB branded parts started coming in around 2011... can't say much good or bad about them yet tho, it has all been small , rubber stuff if I remember.

I actually thought the world was coming to an end when they started building MBs in the USA. LOL 8-)

Well, they've been building MBs in South Africa for decades, and I think in South America too. And now China for the Asian markets. Yeah that is the first "real" MB part that I've seen made in China.

That is so true Gerry, MB has put themselves all over the world in terms of manufacturing.

MB is really no longer a 'German' car company IMO...itsa a global conglomerate.

I think soon the Chinese will be making Cuban cigars as well, if not already !

Well, they're pretty good at making fake Rolexes, Omegas and Breitlings....so faux Cohibas are probably a very simple matter for them....aye.

Can some one please tell me how to correctly pronounce DICHTRING? Because it's completely hilarious the way I read it to myself.
