I recently had my '94 repainted, same Arctic Silver, but I painted the bumpers and side panels the same color for a more monomchromatic look.

The paint job was necessary. The original paint had failed at the metal and was crazed throughout. With the car dissassembled, the only rust was behind the front wheel wells on the fender panels that were covered by the plastic mouldings. Original spec wheels also repainted. Now that she's all pretty I need to install curb feelers. Does MB sell OEM curb feelers?

Re: New Paint Job

Bill - your car looks phenomenal!!! How long have you owned and what else have you done to it???

Indeed it look beautiful! Any money shots from the inside? A former member had the same car with quartz protection coat and BEM wood.

Re: New Paint Job

I bought it in 1994 from John Oakes with 45000 miles on it. He had 19" AMG wheels on it, and after a few tire blow outs running on a flat with the low profile tyres I went back to the factory original wheels. Only other mod is a Pioneer head unit with xm and USB input. My son thinks I'm crazy for being in love with a car that doesn't have a glove box or cup holders.

I’m posting the attached on behalf of my friend Bill. It’s a great read and I hope it will encourage some of you to do something similar...as we all love, or have loved, our cars over the years. And the story is worth telling.

Thanks for sharing that autobiography by Bill! What an entertaining read. I secretly covet his 1983 Toyota Celica (RWD). :-)

That is a good Auto - biography indeed. Enjoyed it. Suprisingly, I'm close to his age, spent my youth in Michigan, same area, made the drives to Traverse City, started driving in a VW...etc. Big surprise, Him owning the E500. Yes, i would like to see all of us here do something similar. Congratulations on getting the repaint, Bill. It looks great. Of course i'm biased towards silver that also being the color of my own.

Awww, I was hoping he was going to get the 2018 E63 S, so I could try to buy it from him in a few years when he trades it in. Darn!
