I bought this car a couple weeks ago and have been delinquent in introducing myself. Unfortunately, I have not had a chance to register it yet but should get to it this week. Many thanks to Swordfish (Mike L) and Jimbo for their advice and inspiration that helped me get to this decision as well as Mike's making the road trip in his 500E to pick it up. It's a 200k mile car but it probably looks closer 50k thanks to the meticulous enthusiast previous owner who put a whopping $70k in upgrades and maintenance into the car on his 8 year watch. Upgrades include RENNTech CF intake, exhaust, and front swaybar, drilled rotors, H&R springs, KMAC camber plates, and BBS wheels (winter and summer set, plus OEM's).

This is being added to my collection of needy old German iron. It's only through forums like this and the help of others who have BTDT am I am to maintain and enjoy these great machines. I had a little heartache about taking on yet another old car, and in this case a higher mileage one, to shoulder a portion of daily driver duties, but the reputation of the model, the passion of the owners and the well documented maintainance and condition of the car got me over the hump.

I look forward to talking and hopefully meeting some you boys. If you are ever in CT, look me up.

Re: New owner saying hello

Welcome to the board and congratulations on your new acquisition!

:welcome:

Thanks for putting up a personal page. Great place to document what you've done and will be doing to your new machine.

Cheers,
Gerry

Looking good Jay !

What a great score. The PO is a hero for all his dedication to keeping that car sweet! Congrats on hanging in there and getting it.

I don't know about him being a hero but he is obsessed with the car. He made me give him my word that he has right of first refusal if I ever go to sell it. He insists he is going to buy it back at some point.

Congrats again bud !

What a score indeed. One of the stronger, better sorted 500's I've driven.
As an aside, Jay and I poured over the documents at lunch .It was both amazing and frightening how complete the records were.

Not something a 036 noob would want to see while considering getting one. But here's a case of a truly dedicated owner that by the way also owned 2 Porsche's and a BMW, so there was never any neglect or deferred anything.

Love the way this car sits, and oh how I love the Renntech FSB. IMHO, huge difference in the way the car stays so flat.

Can't wait to get mine from Bob @ Renntech.

Cheers.

What is a Renntech FSB?? :wtf:

Car looks fantastic! More pics please...... :thankyou:

FSB = Front Sway Bar. A mere $595 plus shipping from RENNtech.

:apl:

Congratulations on finding what looks like a great higher milage documented car! I really like those wheels. Glad you found one, Jay.

The Northeast contingent continues to expand....
