Re: OWNER - Jesse (Deutschland, B-W)

It`s complete blue.
Even inside.
Even steering wheel and airbag are blue (normally black).
There is some work to do on the car.
Tidy interiour. Wood in the center console is cracked.
Engine is ticking. I think it`s a hydraulic valve lifter.
Engine looses a little bit oil...
But body is in perfect condition and complete rust free.
Drives perfect,shifting perfect.
Pre owner invested a lot of money in the car.

Re: OWNER - Jesse (Deutschland, B-W)

The engine ticking is probably a bad plastic oil tube, the ends pop off and cause the noisy lifter. Very common issue, easy fix. You may want to replace all the plastic tubes with a set of aluminum ones.

Re: OWNER - Jesse (Deutschland, B-W)

I think tommorow I`ll open the covers and have a look.

Re: OWNER - Jesse (Deutschland, B-W)

I opened the rigt engine cover today.
The oil tubes where all o.k. ,but i found some weak valve lifters.
I`m 98% sure this causes the ticking.
I want to change them all on the right side,or even better find somebody who does this for me.
How to remove the chain tensioner?
I could not even see it!

Re: OWNER - Jesse (Deutschland, B-W)

Moin & Welcome!

Your Interior/Leather needs a good cleaning and reseal.. is way to "shiny" for Blue

Re: OWNER - Jesse (Deutschland, B-W)

Why should I change them when they are o.k.?
If all tubes are good, without any ends popped, replacing them wouldn't fix the ticking. However, replacing them with aluminum means you never have to worry about plastic tubes popping ends in the future, and having to pull the valve cover again.

Failing lifters are unusual, but if you can press the lifter down with your fingers with the cam lobe pointing up (base circle against lifter)... that isn't good.

:(

Re: OWNER - Jesse (Deutschland, B-W)

30 Years ago i was a mechanic in a MB garage.
The Diesel engines had often failed hydraulic falve lifters.

I pushed on them with a screwdriver, and some of them go down a lot, others not.
The most of this weak lifters I can find at 4th cylinder.
That`s not normal.
If the tubes are o.k. it can only be this.
Is there a manual how to remove the camshafts?

Re: OWNER - Jesse (Deutschland, B-W)

They are already new. Preowner did this before.
Thx for the Link.

Re: OWNER - Jesse (Deutschland, B-W)

Welcome Aboard Jesse,

Nice color, I haven’t seen a blue one in the US. Your new Brabus wheels look great!

How about more pics when you have the time.

Take Care
