Welcome and congrats on your new ride :-)

ps...Your links aren't working...looks like you pasted abbreviated url's.

Re: NEW MEMBER AND OWNER w124 500E

Welcome! Sure looks like you have a huge project on your hands. Enjoy!

Re: NEW MEMBER AND OWNER w124 500E

Ouch...some people sure are *ssholes.

Please post your progress as you bring this car back to greatness!

Re: NEW MEMBER AND OWNER w124 500E

Welcome, Steve.

I second Bing, you have some work to do for sure. What happened to the car, was it used for target practice or involved in a drive by? How's the rest of the car, the running condition anyway?

:welcome:

I live up in The Woodlands and would love to get together at an agreeable time and place. There are more than a few E500E owners here in the Houston area.

Congrats on the acquisition -- hope you keep us apprised on its rehabbing.

Cheers,
Gerry

Congrats! I recognize this car (from the, uh, battle scars). It was for sale a while ago (year or two, maybe?) on either eBay or AutoTrader, no? Gerry might have some records on it.

:cheers3:

Yeah thats the one! The guy i got it from only had the car for like 6 months or so and he bough it from Houston and took it to Chicago And then i got it from him back to Houston.

I work at 249 and Louetta (HP) and the entrance to the parking garage I take is on Jones Rd. just north of Cypresswood. I am down at 1960 and Jones, Willowbrook Mall, etc area all the time running errands at lunch and so forth. Honda of Houston is near 290 and 1960 and I am always over there getting motorcycle parts too.

There are quite a number of owners in Houston. I'd love to put together a mini-gathering. G-Man here on the board lives out off of 290 in Cypress, and another friend and board member who owns two 500Es lives here in The Woodlands.

Cheers,
Gerry

P.S. Give me the VIN of the car and I'll look it up in my database for previous records I have on the car.

Record of this car is from July 2010 on eBay. Here is the information that I have on it:

CAR HAS CALIFORNIA SALVAGE TITLE. Asking price: $5,999. eBay ad says: Due to the age of a preowned vehicle, there bounds to have some minor normal wear on the exterior of the car which does not limit to small sratches on the corner of the rear bumper cover, minor dings on the body etc. Anything else like mechanical conditions on this vehicle are in good to excellent condition!

- This 500E drives excellent! No shaking on freeway or whatever issues. We have tested on the freeway speed without any mechanical problems. Mileage may varies due to local test drive.

- No frame damages or engine/ transmission damages. Rest of the car like the Airbags, engine/ transmission are original.

- This 500E has an upgraded full core aluminum radiator!

- It has California rebuildable salvaged title dued to theft and vadalism to the exterior of the vehicle.

- This 500E was a theft recovered unit. The theft also vadalized the hood, right fender, right headlight, right doors, right rear quarter panel, tailights and trunk.

- We are throwing in a similar colored 420E hood, green colored trunk and brand new set of LED tail lights to go with this remarkable 500E!

- All these work can be completed in one weekend without the need of a frame machine! Excellent project for weekend mechanic or bodyman!

- Comes with 1 master key

Parts car. Very dented and beat up on the outside per photos, Horrible condition. Car has salvage title.

If it's just a tiny bit of residue, and about the same on each, it may not be anything to worry about. But if there is liquid present, and/or a few plug holes have liquid while others are relatively dry, yes that's a problem. New valve cover gaskets will fix it, the kit includes the round seals at each plug hole. You'll probably need the special tool shown at the link below to access the rear bolt on each side, unless you're a sadist and want to get them out some other way. The Koken is totally worth the forty bucks.

Thank you gsxr. For now it just a little bit of residue around each plug, no liquid present. Im gonna end up changing valve cover gaskets anyway , Im not gonna wait for anything to get worse. This car has seen enough of that, it has never been taking care of idnk why.
