I'll be parting out a 140,000 mile 92 400E non ASR car starting next week. Light hit in the front right. White over grey. As parts come off i'll be posting pictures and prices of 036 applicable items here.

Note. Some items that are both 034 & 036 applicable will be listed in both forum areas. 1st responses in either area will be respected and sold items will be noted in both areas.

I suggest waiting until all items are listed before shipment to take advantage of shared shipping costs.

whoooo fun times!

Hi Drew,
Do you have the trunk mounted stereo amplifier bracket?
I'm not even sure it's the right part for my 93 500e, but the one I bought on ebay is definitely not the right part for my car.
Maybe if you have it and willing post a pic?
Thanks,
Steve

I'll check tomorrow. There is a bracket present for the CD player so i would suspect yes.

Does this look like a car that’s been stored indoors or outside? I ask because it potentially affects the quality of the interior parts. Thanks, Drew.

Cheers,

maw

Difficult to tell. Trim is bleached to gold however the interior is in quite good shape. Door pockets are not peeling, mirror inside trim pieces have all their tabs, Wood is showing only minor fading. I'll post pictures soon.

Hi Drew. The anti-squeak pad is the felt pad on the floor of the trunk to the left of the plastic spare tire wheel well cover.

Jamie
The felt pad is present and in good shape with no defects or stains. I have never removed this pad which is glued to the trunk area however i am able to lift the corner without damage and i'm confident I can remove it carefully intact.

Hey Drew, also Drew here - how is the headliner?

That would be great, Drew. Thanks so much. Perhaps you might send some photos?

Hi. Off the top of my head I would need the d/s headlight bucket (plastic piece) and foam finger insulator between bodywork and fender, the transmission wiring harness and the antenna. I'm sure there are a couple of other 'wants' but those stick out for now.

DS headlight bucket is damaged with cracks. The foam insulator is good. The other two items should be available although the antennas' outside gasket that contacts the body has a crack in it. Thanks for your interest.

drew

Cracked bucket is better than what I have now (no bucket) so I'll still take it. That antenna gasket is practically half the price of an antenna (Benz robbery) but I'll still take it. Also, this is a faraway task for me but I think I need a quarter panel. If this car is rust free, could I get the driver rear quarter as well?

Drew, due to another prompting, I looked at other pictures of my type of car and realize that the driver side doesn't come with a bucket on the 6 cylinders as I had originally thought. The car was involved in a light accident sometime before I got it and thought the body shop had not replaced it. So that I won't need.

Hiya Drew,

I am looking for the foam inserts within the front fenders below the blinkers - if they are available, I would be keen to get them;

I am also looking for the rubber trims on each side of the front fenders as well as the rubber trims that go on the forward plastic trims of the front wheel wells. If the engine undertray rubber trims are still there, could you please advise?

Does the vehicle still have its rear bumper inserts that cover the area between the rear wheel arch and the trunk area? If so, please put me down for these?

I am looking for the little plastic tray that houses the windshield heater bits and this is found on the driver's side back of the hood - it is a flat back tray which is prised out carefully so as not to damage the tabs.

Cheers

Perry

HNYC I could possibly cut the Q panel out (the car is rust free) but it would be last on the list of dismantling. Where are you located?

Perry HNYC asked earlier about the foam "fingers". I'll check on all the rubber trims. Engine undertray itself is gone. I noticed at least one of the rear wheel arch inserts. I'll check for the other. Plastic washer tray is present.

If he doesn’t I have one.

Hiya Drew,

Many thanks, I will take the plastic washer tray, rubber trims and rear wheel inserts. If you could send some photos of the foam fingers before sending them out, I could replicate them. Also if you have the forward underbonnet rubber trims, I would be keen to take these off you.

I am also looking for the double connector holder mounted on the back of the engine shroud on the passenger side - this is in front of the box with the control modules.

What is the condition of the front tie-rods? If they are good, please let me know as I may take these too...

Do the headlight washers work at all? If they look good, I would be keen to take the set...

I am based in Australia and will cover postage of these items.

Please PM me with the prices and postage and I will Paypal you for the parts.

Cheers

Perry

Thanks for your interest, Perry. I will take pictures and post for all items and your early inquiry will be respected. The washers do look good. I have not been able to check the front end steering parts yet. It will be some time, possibly 2 or 3 weeks before i can get parts removed and shipped. I'll keep you posted.

Thanks, Drew

Hiya Drew,
Many thanks - I am in no rush, take your time and strip it correctly and then let me know on the parts.

Cheers

Perry

Perry, you know the rear bumper inserts don't fit the E500E, correct? And the 1992 USA headlight washers (wipers) only fit USA DOT lights...

:124:

Drew I'm up north (NYC) I know, not very imaginative (hnyc) 🙄. I'm not in any rush with that quarter and I'd have to find a way of getting it up here. And it would depend if you were ok with sitting on it depending on how long the dismantling takes. Another possibility is I've also since heard of another parts car a little closer so maybe I could get that one. We'll see. Maybe I get the foam finger from up here and Perry can get the pair from you but I have to find out if it's available first.

Sorry, I misread your post. HEADLIGHT washers are damaged although i believe i have the parts in my stash. See Daves' post above/below. Both rear wheel well panels are present. See Daves' post. 036 &034 panels are different.

Hiya Sheward,

Thanks for the pickup....bummer! Thankfully Mr Inaba in Japan has a few sets on their way to me here in Oz but these are well crafted aftermarket versions - I would have loved to have a set of originals....

C pillar trims are clean and tight. It would be helpful if someone could post a close up picture of the inside of this trim piece to aid in removal.

drew

Drew, I went back through my photos, and I don't have a good one of the tabs on the C-pillar. If I remember correctly, there are two or three that run along the front of the pillar nearest the door. They need to be pushed back a bit in order to pop out of their slots. Its a bit fiddly, so I would take my time doing it. I managed to break mine on disassembly, and thats why I am looking for new ones. If you are able to extract yours without breaking the tabs, I would snap them up!

I'll reference the advise i read here and do a bit of research and proceed carefully. Thanks!

All parts inquired about are present except the passenger side foam finger under the turn signal/headlight. Pictures and prices will be posted soon.

Drew,
I can't recall taking off the C-pillar covers so I am curious about this myself. Picked up som pics from internet of the C-pillar covers and it appears to be held in place by 3 clips. But I don't know whether the clips are fixed on the cover, or if they sit in the chassis and the blade tabs are pressed straight into the clips. BTW, the clips image is Dave's from eBay.

The 3 plastic clips are molded into the forward edge of the panel. The panel needs to be gently pressed backwards and out to release them without breaking.

The metal clips are usually tightly embedded in the plastic, and if you pull the panel forward (after un-clipping the 3 plastic tabs at the front), the metal clip should slide out of the chassis wall easily. If you need to remove the metal clip from the panel, it requires careful wiggling to extract it without breaking the plastic. The metal clips can almost always be re-used.

:sawzall:

It's EXCEEDINGLY easy to break the slot in the C-pillar plastic where these clips insert into, so take extreme care and follow the instructions to the letter. I have broken these years ago on my 560SEC due to ignorance / forcing things, and was lucky enough to be able to find a set of replacement panels on a trip to Europe of the right color, used.

Thanks for the guidance. Years ago i removed one wrongly. Now i wish i had kept it for reference.

Hi Drew. Just to confirm, I'm still interested in the anti-squeak pad in the trunk and the engine bay insulation pads and left side heat shield. Thanks.

Also interested in the trunk floor sheet metal 124-610-04-75

and sheet metal under the package tray 124-640-12-60

The U-shaped lower radiator support 124-620-56-86

Wheels (if original 16 inch and in good condition)

Mass air flow sensor 000-094-01-48-80

Fan shroud

Also interested in some interior pieces, depending on condition:

Rear package tray with first aid kit cover and the associated gray plastic trim pieces around the rear headrest rails
Leather front door inserts
Dashboard
Instrument cluster housing
Third brake light housing
Center console
Gray carpeting under side of console
Other carpeting
Kick panels
Gray trim pieces covering the ends of the seat rails
Door sills
Headliner, despite sagging
All audio items except the head unit (speakers, amplifiers, wire harnesses, speaker mounting brackets, grills, etc) if they are identical to a 92 500E
Perhaps some other interior trim items

Thanks Drew.

Jamie, just FYI... some of these pieces are different between 034 and 036:
  • Trunk floor sheet metal 124-610-04-75 is 036-specific. Not used on the 400E.
  • The U-shaped lower radiator support 124-620-56-86 is 036-specific. Not used on the 400E.
  • Stock 8-hole wheels on all 400E/E420, USA-spec, are 15" only.
  • Side anti-noise covers engine 124-524-20-30 (right) and 124-524-21-30 (left) are 036-specific.
  • Undershield/sound absorber 124-524-38-30 is only for use with the special metal undersheild, not offered in USA on either 034 or 036 chassis. If you want the 1-piece standard plastic undershield for 036, these are still available new (and, once again, are unique to the 036 chassis... the 034 item is different.)

I think the rest of your list can all be sourced from the 400E though.

Tip: The reverse lookup in the EPC is very helpful. Example shown below for the trunk floor, which is only used on the 036 chassis, worldwide. April-2018 EPC shown, ISPPI should have similar search functionality and identical results:

For everyone. I have had limited time to move forward last week however i am making progress. Most engine bay items are removed and cleaned. I'm currently working in the interior.
