Hello everyone.

Well, I'm very close to buying a 500E.

The dream is getting closer. Here in Spain, the units sold at the Mercedes dealership did not reach fifty and this is one of them. Do you understand my emotion? It is a unit manufactured at the end of 1990 and sold in April 1991, really beautiful, color 199 with black leather, very healthy body, perfect transmission and engine too.

But all this is not perfect, the car i am looking at has a problem: It only starts well when it has at least, more than a quarter of gasoline in the tank. When it is low, it is very difficult to start. The seller has warned me about this. What could it be????

Greetings to all.

Sounds like an issue inside the fuel tank... but first, verify there is low fuel pressure when the tank is less than 1/4 full. Also check the fuel pumps and hoses, if they are old or original, all those item should be replaced on principle after 30+ years.

:scratchchin:

Thanks for the response. I understand that it would be solved, perhaps, by replacing the fuel tank if the problem was pressure? Hoses must be cheap and mandatory to change them.
Comment that i have this same problem in a 1982 500SE W126.
