We attended the inaugural Radwood East this weekend at Road Atlanta which was held in conjunction with Gridlife. The latter was a phenomenon I had only Heard about. Lots of drifting and JDM type stuffs...having not been to a drift even in over 10 years I will say they have come a LONG way!

All told, an Eclectic bunch of cars from the 80's/90's showed up. We decided to take up the Hammer Wagon, Coupe and the Brumos 500E.

Wagon was a Hit, got to tell her story a bunch. Only aspect that leaves me disappointed, and it has Nothing to w/ Radwood, is these 3 cars received more attention/accolades at this event then Any MBCA event. Maybe that will change as the years progress but it was a Stark contrast.

Spent the day..got a decent sunburn despite sunscreen but we did have Fun driving to/from the track. Traffic was reasonably light...:)

Wagon did manage to take Raddest in show so Yay :jono:

I'll post some pictures here shortly.

Some articles on the event:

They have them up here...lotsa fun ! One is few miles from my house and REALLY super rad, like my MBs wouldn't be let in I bet...

I would have seriously underestimated the attendees as picking like a blown and low rusted 34' as the people's choice. Nice Jono and company !!

Despite the Melville family all coming down with colds on Saturday, we mustered the strength and courage to jump in the wagon early on Sunday and drive the +2 hours to Philadelphia for RadWood (I wasn't keen on having two kids in my 500E for a long drive with snacks and spilled drinks). It was a lot of fun with some great cars.

I'm not sure all the MBs would be Board-approved though -- you want a slammed C124? And a slammed W126? And a slammed W201? And a crazy body kit on a SEC? Of course!

But the craziest thing wasn't all the lowered Benzes. It was that, by total coincidence, out of the hundreds of cars there, the car that parked right next to me at the same time I was parking was a smoke silver 500E driven by a Board member I've met in Washington -- Harrison aka rubadub3!

Not pictured - the Melville family all wearing matching white S124 t-shirts! You can buy yours here: https://www.spreadshirt.com/mercede...ellable=103138121&appearance=348&color=353D56

I like the widebody SEL although I think they went too far with the wing. Not surprisingly the kit looks a bit wavy on the bottom, unacceptable on a MB.

Im way late but I did see your wagon and really liked it. I was there in the red 240D. Can’t wait for the show next year. You should also check out the Deutsche Classic in July. It’s essentially radwood but only German cars.

With a hat tip to 8899 for sending it to me, here's an article about RADwood Philly. The highlight of course is a nice picture of a sweet white S124 which is undoubtedly owned by a pretty cool dude (it's mine).
