500E ROTOR arm bracket (CIS-E 119.960)

I have decided to change my rotor arms as i just bought this car and wanted to make sure the rotor arm and cap are new, when i removed the rotor arm 3 washers fell and thought this was strange as i have watched various videos on YouTube and never seen any washers being placed behind the rotor arm when fixed to its bracket, after some investigation i relaised that my bracket is different than the once i have looked up on the internet, the surface of my bracket is flat whilst the others i have seen on the internet have a step up where the screws are fixed, should i change my brackets or is it ok to have the rotor arms being fixed with these washers as spacers.

Wow, those are the old / original brackets... and yes, they need to be replaced with the later design. Photos of both are at this post. DO NOT install rotors with spacers / washers.

Old part # 119-158-04-40

New part # 119-158-06-40

The new bracket has been NLA for a while (link) but you can buy used ones. Don't buy ÜRO aftermarket. There's a couple used ones on eBay right now, click here.

:shocking:

This is because this is a 119.96x version of the engine, not the .97x.

The same parts are on the .96x and .97x, and 30 years later, almost all engines should have had these brackets upgraded long ago. It's a rare bird that still has the originals in place!
