Spastic Gas Gauge

Hello Everyone-
Need some thought on my issue.
My gas gauge has a mind of its own.
While driving it will be steady and I believe accurate. Then all of a sudden it will read empty and then back to normal and then fluctuate from (what I believe is accurate) to empty. It acts like someone who is waving their finger at you. Seems to happen when tank is 1/2 to less than 1/2 full.
It is sporadic as well. I had this happen many months ago and we pulled the sending unit and it was fine.

Thanks in advance for the suggestions.

On a side note my oil pressure gauge just stared to go to 0 when at idol and engine is warm. When accelerating it is at 3. I am thinking it is the sensor by the oil fill. It has never been changed. Car is also running good.
All other gauges are good on the dash.

It's either the sender or the gauge itself. Generally the sender is more likely to be at fault. Difficult to diagnose without swapping one or the other. Both are 500E-specific items. You can swap in E420/E320 parts temporarily to see which cures the problem, then buy the appropriate 500E replacement part.

99% likely to be a faulty sending unit below the oil filter housing. Replace it with a new OE / Hella / VDO. Details here:

You may need to replace your fuel level sending unit (inside the gas tank) if cleaning didn't solve the problem.
