Steering Wheel Picture Thread

I have been considering renewing the leather on my OE 390mm steering wheel for some years now. In parallel now, I have also wondered about fitting an alternative steering wheel onto the car. I've been looking around for pictures of other "kind of stock looking" steering wheels mounted on the w124 and I thought maybe I'd solicit people here to post up pictures of their steering wheel?

In particular, I am interested in the look of 400mm w140 steering wheels, and whether or not people like them mounted on a w124.

The proportions are what I am very interested in. As well, I appreciate the look of the wooden wheels, although I am not sure a cream-beige interior needs any more wood.

I will start with some pictures of wheels mounted in situ:

BELOW - 390mm sportline - OE wheel - perfect proportions - not too thick:

BELOW - 400mm w140 wheel maybe?

BELOW - @2phast's RAID wheel - looks very sporty but proportionally not my cup of tea

BELOW - another 400m wheel maybe?

I vote for OE wheel OR if you just have to make a change the “140 Woody”.

Personally, I don’t think I would like the grip on the slick wood.
+1. A couple of my cars have wheels with partial wood inserts, and I'm not crazy about the feel. Looks nice though. I do like the "pistol grip" designs like Victor Sportline or similar but even the replicas are pretty spendy.

:seesaw:

For what its worth, here is my leather/wood later sportline wheel I purchased off Hakie here on the board sometime back.

I love it. Its not in perfect shape, but I do like the unique-ness of it, and I think it suits the car pretty well. I hear your ‘burl n tan’ concerns @Jlaa. I feel like the richness of burl works better with the black and gray interiors.

Put a wood and leather on my E320 and trying to figure out the right fit for the 93 500e with some slip ring discrepancies. ….
love the look
as for feel Wolf and Badger has great driving gloves and taking the time to put them on each drive let’s the car warm up just a bit. Won’t drive without them!
