Early Sportline/500E wheel (390mm) vs Standard wheel (400mm)

I thought I didn’t have a Sportline steering wheel (390mm) because they look similar but Gsxr told me that it is probably a 1992 wheel and it is so I thought I would show a comparison.

If it's 390mm, yup, it's an early-style Sportline wheel. The later ones have a different shape airbag, but are the same 390mm diameter.

Standard 124 wheels are 400mm.

:tigger:

Yeah I measured 15 3/16” so about 386mm so with taking error into account it’s 390mm. Plus on the ground next to the standard wheel it’s obviously smaller. I just wanted to show how the two look really similar apart but next to each other and when you measure them they’re obviously different. Figured maybe it would help someone determine whether a wheel they were looking at is 390mm or not even if it doesn’t look like the late airbag style.

Hmm, interesting...
In the past I tried to fit into my 39cm normal style wheel an 40cm wheel airbag and although I could screw the bolts, the edge of the airbag was too close to the wheel, at one side of the airbag I could not push the airbag in order to activate the horn. The other side worked well.
Maybe just some personal bad experience.

I may have overlooked this thread, but thanks for posting!
My car came with a Victor DB3 steering wheel when I bought it, but I want to collect an original st.wheel as well to have all stock equipment complete. So in case someone want to part with an early sportline st.wheel please let me know, preferably one in decent condition.

Thanks!
