This recommendation is generic rather than E500E specific and I think every DIY'er should have one. Over the weekend, I helped my nephew replace the transmission/FW/clutch in his Miata. Early on in the job, one of the exhaust header studs sheared and we needed a tool to remove it. I have wanted to get one for some time but for whatever reason never got around to it...so we headed over to Harbor Freight and picked up one of these: http://www.harborfreight.com/12-drive-stud-extractor-69466.html

It worked perfectly and for $5.99 should be in every DIY'ers tool box.

Incidently, NAPA sells an almost identical tool for $37.99...although you can get one from Amazon for a little over $12.

There are better ones which fit smaller spaces and have three cam locks instead of one so load remains on centerline.
