Hello USA gents,

what kind of annual insurance rates are you paying for your e500e's and what companies? Gieco vs Progressive vs State farm?

Thanks guys.

i pay under 500 for classic car insurance as long as i have a daily (nyc) and i think under 2500 miles a year? i only average 1200 miles p/y in mine
Thanks for the information. I should consider the "classic car" option. Regular insurance quotes seem to be anywhere from $1,800 to $4,000 a year.

Rates can vary drastically in different states/cities, even with a clean driving record.

What state do you live in? $2k-$4k is painful.

I'm in florida and get 'full coverage'. expensive insurance overall. V8 engine cars command higher rates. depending in a person's driving record anywhere from $1800 to $4000+ for full insurance collision coverage. if just plain liability it can be less than $1000 a year.

Ohhhhhh! Florida - my condolences. @LWB250 might have some advice for you. From what I understand, Florida rates are no bueno.

If you have a fairly late-model daily driver (something not more than 10-12 years old) you may be able to get Hagerty agreed-value coverage, or similar from Grundy/Chubb/etc.

There is additional info in this thread, the initial posts are old, but there are recent post with useful info:

I could see that in Florida.

I would suggest looking into Hagerty, possibly. They won't be much cheaper for a similarly insured "regular" policy, but their policy is guaranteed value, whereas your standard daily driver policy is not, meaning if you had a loss, you probably wouldn't be made whole on a regular policy.

I could blather on about Florida being a no-fault state, "PIP", etc., etc., but is just a huge cluster that screws the consumer, makes attorneys, lobbyists, and legislators richer, and encourages crime. This is why I'm exiting Florida in the very near future.

For comparison purposes, I have two cars insured in Florida: A 2003 E320 and a 2008 ML550. Both have full coverage, comp, collision, you name it. I pay about $1400/year for each car's insurance. Those same vehicles in Flagstaff would cost half that for the same coverage.

With Erie Insurance, $1,000,000 coverage with $1,000 deductible, normal insurance (not agreed value) I pay $404 a year for full coverage (comp, collision, etc).

My 560SEC? $745 for same, interestingly.

I was so disgusted by the quote from Hagerty (which as I recall was something like 4-5x what I pay for agreed value of $40K + restrictions) that I decided to just keep the insurance I have. Fuck Hagerty and their ridiculous prices.

If my E500 iwere ever to be severely damaged or totaled, I’ll just buy another low miles example when the proper one that meets my criteria comes up for sale.

To me paying $2K a year for shitty agreed value insurance is not worth it. I know others love Hagerty and perhaps pay less than they quoted me. More power to y’all!

The first time I went looking for "classic" car insurance after I left State Farm where I could get agreed value policies on daily drivers, Hagerty was the only one that was remotely decent when it came to the ability to enjoy my car. I didn't consider any of the others because I felt they were too restrictive when it came to when you could (and couldn't) drive your car, or limitations placed on mileage, things like that. That was easily 12-13 years ago, so things may have changed with the others by now, I don't know. As for their recent efforts to create a "brand" or whatever the heck they're doing, I could care less, it's not something that I pay attention to nor does it affect my choice of insurers. For that matter, I rarely read the magazine they send on occasion.

you are very fortunate. those are excellent insurance rates

I have Grundy Insurance, classic agreed value policies for my 64 Cadillac ($35k) 92 400E ($15k) and 92 500E ($35k) I pay about $800 a year I think for the policy.

Deductible is $500 for collision and comprehensive. $300k/$100k coverage in WA state. Also have a $2M umbrella.
