Hello, I just swapped my headlights to the EURO Spec and I am now on the hunt for a pair of blade arms and blades. Thanks in advance.

I need these.

You got the hard part done, congratulations! Wipers can either come off a pedestrian 94 US car or from European cars.

Something like this might work (no affiliation):

You can have them repainted so they look good again

Remember you also need the motors... those are different too.

As TimL said, the 94-95 USA motors/arms are what you need (same as all Euro motors/arms).

Also need the trim panels too!

:rugby:

Yup, you can locate all this stuff used, but it may take some hunting to locate everything. You might get lucky and score a complete kit, but that might require hitting up a bunch of salvage yards.

Never understood the need to have the wiper blades for headlights, unless you are driving through deep mud or deep snow. Threw my away once I got the euro headlights. One less thing to fix and I prefer a cleaner look on the headlights without those blades.

Steve, I know what you mean! They are only functional when driving in a bad winter storm at night, where road spray gradually covers the lights and can significantly reduce light output. This is probably never going to happen for the vast majority of 036 owners (at least not while driving the 036!).

Some people do like the look though, even in sunny SoCal where the wipers would never see actual usage. So, I get wanting to complete the "Euro" appearance...

I have a couple sets of W140 wiper arms. Not sure if the length is similar to what you need. I can measure them for length if you know what the ones you need are.

+1 w/ Steve! I have no use for the headlight wipers either. I removed when I installed the Euro E-Code headlights along with new wiper delete panels below them. INOP a much cleaner look.

Plus it hardly ever rains in SoCal anyway and when it does my car stays in the garage. :jono:

Check post #25

FYI, those Turkey arms/blades are aftermarket reproductions, but should fit ok for cosmetic use (the wipers are really only needed when driving in a bad snowstorm, which is unlikely in the Bay area). The repops likely do not include the 'squirter' piece which is separate, and snaps into the back of the arm on OE wiper arms.

Keep in mind these Euro wiper arms also need the "Euro" motors to be functional, and also need different trim panels as well... search the forum for details.

I have just a used OE passenger side arm, I stripped the paint off it as it wasn't great. Has the spray nozzle on the back still so its complete.

Its ready for a rattle can semi-flat black or your color of choice. $30 shipped in the US. I can get a pix if interested. LMK in a PM.

I have a driver's side arm. I have repaired the plastic pivot point cover. I have about 3 hours invested in the repair. Functionally and aesthetically fine. Needs paint. It's the top arm in the picture. The small chip has also been filled.

$50.00 shipped in the US. I won't go anywhere near the post office for less these days and the private entities are now requiring gold bullion for a shipment.

I applaud your generosity, Jimbo.

Some learnings, for a 93 and earlier, you don't need new motors there is a switch inside the motor to let them know it is not US, I did find the new panels and had them painted, and was able to locate the wiper blades and arms, everything is working perfectly. Looks and feels as it should! - thanks for all the help!

here you go!

This is not accurate. There is no "switch" inside. There is a plastic section which keys the motor frame to the headlight, and the USA motors can be switched left to right to physically bolt up to Euro light assemblies, but the sweep will not be correct - only part of the lens will be cleaned when they operate, if they are functional at all. The wiring is also different left to right, so to function I think rewiring would also be needed. I've never attempted this so I'm not sure of the caveats.

Glad you were able to get the full setup installed, it looks sharp! I assume you are aware that you lost the auxiliary high beam function since those are standard 124 Euro lights, not the 500E-specific units (which have been NLA for years). Not a big deal if you don't use high beams much.

After collecting the motors for some years, I was dismayed when I'd found out that the early motors had longer shafts. Yet another box of parts I cannot get myself to dispose of. Quite a difference, discernable without a rule.
