W124 turbo diesel build.

Nice restoration. Soooo much $$$ invested in NOS interior parts, I was surprised he used aftermarket mirror booties. They did not appear to fit well compared to OE, although I'm sure they are a lot better than the old ones. New OE are still available, ~$200/pair which I'd think would be peanuts compared to all the other new bits on the car.

@Bogeyman, do you have contact info for W&B? They are missing the upper grommet on the antenna, and YT comments are useless for sharing information.

This is what is on his E300 superdiesel now, only the lower guide tube:

Attached photo shows what SHOULD be on there:

@gsxr Hey this is John from Woods and Barclay. Yes I am familiar with that cover piece that you showed a picture of. I'll see if I can track one of those down. Thank you for posting the comment. My phone number is listed at the beginning of every one of my YouTube videos so feel free to contact me. It's also listed on the website. 404-200-3942 www.woodsandbarclay.com

Unfortunately I could not find the original OEM ones and they don't appear to be available anymore. I searched high and low.

Hey John! Totally missed the phone number, sorry... and, I typically use email. :oldster:

Upper grommet 1248270898 is $22.50 MSRP (wow, the price went up), or ~$16 from discount dealers:

The OE / Genuine Mercedes mirror boots are still available, but may require contacting a live person at a dealership to order the left side.

124-811-01-61 - Left / driver side - $220 list, ~$130 discounted - May need to come from Germany warehouse
124-811-04-61 - Right / passenger side - $164 list, ~$100 discounted - Widely available from online dealers in USA

Note that the left side shows "Backordered" or "Currently unavailable" on almost all RevParts dealer websites in USA. This is very misleading, as it implies NLA. However, those two terms almost always means the dealer must order the part from Germany and it will take a week or so to arrive stateside. Unfortunately it also means you must contact a live person at a dealership to inquire about worldwide inventory levels. Some online dealers (Naperville, I'm lookin' at you) will sometimes lie and tell you these parts are "not available", which is BS. They just do not want to bother with anything not in stock in USA warehouses. Pelican has one in stock at $175.

The MB Classic website (click here, screenshot below) shows the left boot as "available", so unless it VERY recently went NLA, it should be orderable. It's also possible the part is temporarily OOS but not yet NLA, again, only the dealer can say for certain.

Passenger side available to order online:

Beautiful car with to much non-oem parts IMOP. The asking price is $98K. That’s probably about how much in parts & labor he has into it. The build is superb. I watched the test drive showed well with a smooth ride. It shifted great and has a quiet interior but I can’t imagine when it breaks down what the costs would be. Where would you take it for repairs?

It’s a nice bauble to keep in some deep pockets collector’s collection and drive once and awhile. Make a note to oneself to be sure and drive once a cool winter day. With A/C delete in a black car in the hot and humid south would be a non-starter for me. Actually even here in SoCal I wouldn’t be able to drive it on a sunny day.

Sorry to be so negative but as pretty as this car is and all the work done on it. It’s a really bastardized car and IMOP will be hard to sell. I wish him luck.

$98k? Yikes. That will be a tough sale, even for a superb build.
