W140 vs. w124 propshaft center bearing supports.

Hello experts! I have a question: do the W124 (A1244100881) and W140 (A1404100881) propshaft center bearing supports share the same dimensions and mounting points? The ball bearing itself appears to be identical for both the W124 and W140. The issue is simply that the A1404100881 is no longer available (NLA), even in the aftermarket.
And another mystery,EPC say, that my 1996 c140 5.0 part nr is A1404100881 but gogle and other catalocs say, that right pn. to 119.980 engie is 1404100781.

EPC shows 140-410-07-81 for sedans and 140-410-08-81 for coupé. The #08 is also used on the late turbodiesel.

Google does not know the difference between sedans and coupés. The EPC is the only valid source, ignore what you find on the internet.

No idea. You could order one and compare with the old to see what the difference is. This thread implies there could be a small dimensional difference.

From thread you sent me,i read this thing: One other thing I found in WIS is that the rubber diaphragm in the carrier is supposed to be preloaded by pushing the carrier 5 mm toward the front of the car when bolting it down. I wonder how many techs do that when replacing the carrier and bearing?

Do you gys have done that,when you change it? Or you just plug and play and all good? i also notissed,that c140 and S600 share same part but that is also NLA.

This is good thread,thank you! Notissed,that main question is about shaft angle here,not about rubber or bearing! As i understand that if i install sedan part,i must mesure old part welded shims and add washers to right thikness! Do i get it right?

I don't think that is part of the procedure for the 124. And, I'm not familiar with the 140... have not seen the WIS procedure which mentions the 5mm preload.

Yes - measure the old, original one carefully and make sure the dimension / shims are the same on the new part you install.

Today I took the heat shield apart and visually checked the condition! There were cracks on the outside but it didn't seem to be broken! The code on it is A1404100281. And as mentioned in the topic, the mount is indeed shifted forward about 5mm from the center.
