Hello C36 experts.

Does anyone know the part numbers piston rings?

Thank you in advance.

This might not be an easy task, 2 sources state the same issue with OE piston rings and mention the Piston rings dimensions:

------------------------------
"These are the rings that were in the engine (measured by my mechanic).
1.2 x 3.3
1.5 x 3.7
2.5 x 2.2"
--------------------------------

One solution mentioned was buying aftermarket piston rings (CP Pistons, Total Seal). There is one seller in Germany selling sets of piston rings for the 3.6 M104.
But I thought of another solution which needs to be VERIFIED: Ssangyong Chairman H pistons ring !? It allegedly uses a 3.6L M104 engine.

Eventually It would be possible to find them, because a few Chinese factories are also manufacturing forged 3.6L pistons sets for like $600!!

Same problem exists with 6.0L M119 engines. I was going to contact Total Seal one of these days and see if they can provide custom zero-gap rings that work with Alusil.

:apl:

I know total seal has supplied the rings. i emailed them and its so odd that they want me to provide bore and size information. I stated to them they produced it already. are the specs not on their records and computer systems?

I also reached out to a china factory. which ones do you know about? the one factory told me they need a large quantity order to produce the 3.6L piston and rings.

thank you.

I got new rings from a specialist near Stuttgart for my 6L M119, M117 and custom M104.

You have to tell them the exact cylinder diameter, material and ring height etc.
that is excellent information. what was the price of your M104 3.6 rings?

M104 3.6 ring sizes are follows:

1) 1.2mm top ring,
2) 1.5mm second ring,
3) 2.5mm oil ring. oil ring is an odd size.
the Cylinder bore is still 91mm

thank you

I don't remember so it wasn't significant...
Or significant for that step of work involved.

You need to inquire with them.... Important as said to share the exact (measured) cylinder diameter - not what is written in the book.
If you see from factory there are tolerance steps which are not communicated in the regular documentation as well as this applies for any reconditioning.

I see ok. Since they made custon 3.6 M104 piston rings previously, hopefully, they should have it on record in their database to custom make it again. thank you.

hello @gsxr .
I assume if this is purchased from Mercedes its a set of 6 pistons as part of a set?
The piston/ring assemblies are sold individually. Note the EPC quantity required is 6.

Doesn't matter though... they are NLA.
