Yeah, the Hammer was way too slow. I think the Car and Driver article back then had its 0-60 time listed at five seconds flat.

We should do something similar. Have all 036 owners here do a video of their 0-60 times, so we can see the differences between 1992 and 1993/1994 cars, with any modifications except NOS.

That was terrible. Either it was starting in 2nd, or it's NOT running properly. @jhodg5ck ? Your $0.02 on the soggy acceleration and 7.9 sec time?

Sounded to me like the only shift was somewhere around an indicated 100kph, which may have only been 50-55mph per the test equipment? Speedo may be way off, hard to tell for sure. If the car has 2.24 gears, it may have started in 1st, but is just way below normal power. If it has lower gears, (2.65-3.06) then it had to be starting in 2nd.

The differences would only be a couple tenths of a second... and you would get more variation than that, based on fuel load & altitude/elevation/temperature, even assuming everyone's car is making normal power. Normal should be in the 5.9-6.3 second ballpark, same as factory spec. If anyone tests their 036 and has an instrument-measured time slower than 7 seconds, something ain't right. (Although it might still beat that "Hammer" in the video!)

:3gears:

Is that the one the AMG Has? If so it's never shifted or run right based on the reviews/videos I have watched over the past BUNCH of years.

I'd fly there on my own damn dime if they'd give me access to tools and the car for a few days....

But yes, I'm going to say he never engaged 1st gear and run up to 60 in 2nd... Lame.

here is the test results from a proper 6L coupe w/ LSD driven by Steve Millen...she still moves out Very nicely that much I can confirm!

The driver took it easy for sure!
The 7.87s with the Hammer is not the only time slower than usual:
The 300 SL Gullwing is known for a 0-60mph time between 7.5 and 10.0s, depending on the rear axle ratio (and the driver 😂). Famous German "Auto Motor Sport" magazine measured the same Gullwing with only 7.2s back in 2015.
Not bad for a car mede between 1954 and 1957!
The C111 (with the 3.5L M116, just like in the video) was measured with 7.5s back in the day. The rotary did 0-60mph in only 4.8s:wow:

I'll toss in a W211 E63 for grins... spec is 4.2 seconds, traction limited to around 5.0 sec. But it keeps on truckin' well beyond 60!
