I've recently moved and after a mover handled my hydraulic jack the handle is missing a - securing pin(?) - I don't know what it is called. It looks like this and it secures a smaller diameter pipe inside a larger diameter pipe:

What is such pin/dowel called properly? Can it be purchased at a hardware store? The handle of the hydraulic jack is made up of two pipes and this pin/dowel is missing

Thanks

I think he is looking for something like this, fits permanently inside the small tube and pops out of the hole in the larger tube when the tubes are attached, like a vacuum cleaner extension.

you may have to get creative finding the right size, and then how to secure it inside the small tube.

If all else fails you can simply assemble the pieces and carefully drill a through hole using the original holes as a guide, and then bolt the tubes together.

That’s what I would do — drill and tap a hole and use a screw, or drill through both sides and use a long bolt and lock-nut (as the @outrbnks suhgests). It’s a permanent solution, but that’s OK for this application.

Where did you move to? Did you leave Virginia and go to Kiev, or perhaps Pripyat or Ivankiv?

So it's "Button spring clip retainer" 😀 @outrbnks, thank you. That's exactly the piece that is missing.

@gerryvz, Kiev is about 18 months away. For now it's Hudson, OH. I feel a little like I'm living in America from old news reels, and I like it. Although my son's Ukrainian school/daycare is lacking any diversity and is far behind on progressive schooling methods and curriculum, it is 27mi one way trip (x4 times a day) towards Cleveland, and freeways here sort of resemble California in size, but not in traffic. I mostly blast 80-100mph in my 400E, occasionally slowing down to maybe 60mph if there's a traffic. I love that 😁

Interesting. Well, when you go back to Kiev, make sure you don't live too close to Припять or Чернобыль.

@gerryvz, you know, Припять and Чернобыль can extend Baltimore, Detroit, etc a headstart 😀 Although they ALL look like after a nuclear war, if one goes by the number of zombies roaming the streets, Припять and Чернобыль are a lot less radioactive 😁
