After reading and reading this forum I see a lot of people use redline d4 syn atf. I am a member on different mercedes forum and they say stay away from syn but that is different debate. Just wanted to make sure is this right redline D4 for my 1993 500E??

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Red-Line-Oi...ash=item280abf3783:g:HfUAAOSw5VFWLPOI&vxp=mtr

also will go to mercedes dealer and get filter. Anything else I should get for drain and fill? 8 quarts of D4 and filter? Thank you. Transmission was rebuild at 89000 miles and car has 144K now.

Re: Redline

D4 is correct for this application.
Yes - D4 is correct. You'll need 8.0 quarts after draining the pan AND the converter, and replacing the filter. Patrick is also correct, you need the copper washer for the pan drain plug, and aluminum washer for the converter drain. There are several threads on ATF changing, PLEASE search the forum and read those.

Red Line, Amsoil, or Motul synthetic in 75W-80/85/90 is fine. There is no factory interval but every 50kmi is probably plenty for normal street use.

Re: Redline

Des anyone know how much rear diff fluid we require on change?

Re: Redline

Nocfn thx for the link. I do rear differential on my ACURA mdx every 15K miles or so so procedure is same/similar

Re: Redline

Since i am ordering all fluid from the internet i want to make sure i have enough. Cant find redline products at local stores and dont want to have car on lift and be short on fluids that take 10 days to arrive :O

Re: Redline

If you bought 3, you could do it twice I think, but it doesn't require it that often on the diff.

1.3 liters is the spec, assuming an empty diff and the car level (NOT jacked up on one side). If the car is level it may start dribbling out the fill hole a smidge before you get 1.3L in there.

Make sure to remove the FILL plug first... don't want to drain the diff and then discover you can't re-fill it. Also, Motul Gear 300 is noticeably thinner viscosity which makes it very easy to pour & fill... but it's the most expensive. For the others, try to heat the gear oil a bit (leave the bottle out in the sun for a couple hours, or put it on top of a hot engine, etc) to make it easier to pour.

Well if motul gear 3000 is "better" i will get that. Found 3 L for $60 shipped.
