Wider Tires to fit 8.25" EVO II Wheels

Has anybody tried to fit 275 40 17 tires into an 8.25" wide Evo II wheels at the rear? I am currently using 245 45 17 at the fronts and would like to use wider rears. The set up would have identical tire diameters.
Thanks.

Manny

275-40-17 tires generally have an approved rim width of 9-11 inches, and therefore would not be safe to use on an 8.25" wheel. Plus, it would look really weird.

If you want wider rear tires, you need wider rear wheels...

:burnout:

I run 275x35-18 on a 8.5 rim on my track car, but that is the narrowest rim I would do it on. Most tire manufactures say you need a 9 to do so.
