it came to my mind that the w124 is supposed to have the autolock feature of the Windows and sunroof..when you turn the key to Lock position (in the drivers door )and hold it there...
But my car does not seem to either have it,...or it is just not working..

Is this actually a standard feature on the 124036?`or...

if so..and its not working....any particular to look for ? i did have some problems With my alarm feature...and i think maybe there was a poor contact in the door Lock cylinder in the drivers door or passanger front door...maybe this can be the issue ?

apreaciate all repies n views :)
thanx

I believe it was standard in all 124 from 1990 onwards. You may have a defective convenience module.

ah okei..ill dig into it then i guess..or at least until maybe others can chime in.

Its so typical..cause i think i had a spare Convenience module laying around..but i think i supplied it with the sale of the infrared key setup which i sold to Rouven.hehe have to go down to work tomorrow and check my parts bin :)

The most common cause of this feature not operating is defective lock tumbler microswitches and/or people making modifications to the alarm systems inadvertently disconnecting these switch circuits to the convenience module.

thats what i thought aswell...or...thats why i menioned the alarm problem i had.Though i am still today not shure what was the problem,as i changed around the Lock tumbler switch from drivers door to passenger door...and vice versa.
But it did not help..but later i learned that the left and right Lock tumbler cannot be interchanged?so that made me think i may still have a problem With the tumbler switch still.

But at least now...it looks like its narrowed Down to either tumbler switch in the door...OR the convenience module, As there is really nothing that NOT Works EXCEPT that auto Close function on Windows and sunroof, every other aspect of the convenience function Works,,,sunroof,,Windows plus Windows Down in one click function...and so on..

thanx for replies

All E500E and 400E/E420 models should have this "feature" as standard. Check your convenience module under the rear seat.

Then i have tested the tumbler switch..just abit "randomly"And it seems that it "reacts" when turning the tumbler switch..so it seems the microswitch is in full working order.

And i got to check my parts bin..and unfortunatly i have put the Convenience module i thought i had,,,in the parts Box With the infrared door Lock set i sold to Rouven.
So that sucks .hehe
well thats life :)gotta get another one and try out i think :)
Have someone opened a convenience module before and had a look?are they kinda "fixable" ...like soldering Points " losening n stuff when they "break?

thanx man
have you ever opend one of these modules?are they "fixable" and as easy to see the "fault" as say..the lightbulbwarning module?

Much easier just to change it out with a spare/used unit.

This is it..but i feel ive seen a 202 numbered Convenience module listed regularely=?

i have opened it..and i found a couple of soldering Points to put my finger on.
Seems two of them have been fixed before..the soldering is not as "machine" soldered as all the other ones looks like
And there is a bigger soldering point that has a "cavitie" in it..or a break around the pin.
so im gonna try and solder it..and see what happens.
Other than that...no damages like corrosion and such.

Edit.Soldered it..and did not make any difference..to bad :)
