You may have a point there. My mama used to say "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all"
Wait, maybe that was my aunt...

We are simply entertaining each other. I am usually laughing AT myself as I yak that stuff into my voice recorder. It's not intended to be serious. No one is denigrating anybody else's car or tastes. In a backwards direction, we are expressing what we do like, too.

Personally, I enjoy hearing opinions contrary to mine. I find other perspectives interesting, and sometimes even mind changing.

At least for me, please don't let anything I ever say bother you. I love you, love your cars, and I REALLY enjoy your contributions here. I am absolutely confident that I can speak for everyone here when I say that!

Well Mr. Klink thank you for that insightful rant and for your disdain for woodies. I have never really noticed the differences in feel with a multi textured steering wheel. I think my W212 has a wood and leather wheel but I'm too lazy to run out to the garage and take a look. I think the wood/leather wheels are more elegant, but I agree with you that the 500E should be all business whether it be class or function. However, I wood like one just to see how it looks and feels.

Indeed, I often like the look. Some of them are absolutely beautiful. It really is a "feel" thing with me. I may also have a semi-conscious aversion to it that is kind of a fear of scratching it/wearing it out. I mean, there it is, this beautifully finished and difficultly formed piece of workmanship, and you always have your hands all over it, the exact opposite of how I would treat any other piece of wood work in the vehicle. That is definitely a part of it, too.

Agreed, Klink.

But for some reason I have been wanting a wood shift knob in the Benzes like the one in the Audi. Leather steering wheel; wood shift knob.

But the damned Chestnut wood in the S55 is unobtanium as a shift knob (though I did see a RennTech one on eBay), as is the "24-year old perfectly faded wood" color shift knob for the 500E (which I don't think they make). But I won't be looking at some plastic V8 sticker on the top of any shift knob. Ever.

I did, however, upgrade the M3 shift knob to the Alcantara one that came with the Competition Package.

maw

I am selling the burlwood shift knob in my '92, it looks like this one; http://www.ebay.com/itm/T)-Shift-Kn...015&item=351576210914&refid=a2eurotec&vxp=mtr

Just PM me if you're interested. :-)
