I need a Hirschmann Auta 6000 EL antenna (either a complete working unit or a motor and control board) for my 94 E500. If anyone has one for sale please post.

Thanks,

JM, what is wrong with your current antenna? I believe these are NLA now so it may be worth trying to fix your existing unit. If buying a used antenna, make sure it's been tested / guaranteed working properly.

Also, early 1994 models used a different antenna than late 1994. Early have a threaded top with a hex nut above the fender grommet, late models have no hex nut, just a grommet (which is NLA). Photos are here of the various types:

I have the early style with the threaded top and nut.

Antenna inop, mast in retracted position, no motor sound when radio switched on/off. Remove from car, applied 12 vdc directly to motor, motor verified good. Replaced control board with used one from eBay, unit worked for about a week and now inop again with mast in retracted position. No motor sound when radio switched on/off... Suspect failing motor may have caused original and replacement control board to fail.... I cleaned/lubed the gear assembly and installed a new mast when I installed the eBay control board...

I believe I have one. Let me check.

D'oh. Yeah, the control board is the root cause. I don't know if a motor can kill the board, but if the antenna mast/gears move at normal speed, it's more likely (IMO) the used control board just failed again. Assuming you have the early/original unit with internal control board, those are a pain to swap out. I've had to cobble together used parts from multiple different junkyard antennas to build a good one.

If you have the late style antenna with externally-mounted control board/box, those are MUCH easier to swap out when they fail.

Maybe Robert has something to help you out! Never thought these would go NLA, wish I had bought a couple spares when they were available new for ~$225, but didn't have that kind of $$$ at the time for stuff to put on the shelf.
