Not certain but I believe the rear glass is NLA if anyone knows of any sources. I have a crack and fear it won’t get better over time. 92 500E

Was the 400E or others compatible?

500E rear glass IS STILL AVAILBLE NEW from MB. There are threads on the forum about it, recent threads, so please use the search function.

This glass is E500E specific, but any pedestrian W124 rear glass will fit - it just will have a different defroster line pattern in the rear glass, as well as looking a bit different. But it will work/fit just fine.

MB Classic still shows available., despite most online RevPart dealer websites showing "Discontinued".

Buy from your local dealer to avoid shipping hassles. You'll need to call and talk to a live person. Current MSRP is $1040 USD.

Thanks GVZ and GSXR!

I had not been able to find it online but had not checked the classic center. It was something I just noticed recently, think it was cracked by falling branches during a recent storm.

If it shows as available in Classic Center catalog, you can special order it at a local dealer and they'll ship it there free.

There is a weird situation though - usually installers want to sell the window too. Even if the installer themselves are fine doing it, there's often a company policy about NOT installing unless they sold it to you. They consider it like when you bring your own parts to a mechanic. Some mechanics do NOT like that.

When I ordered a new windshield for my 1987 300D, I had to find a guy who owned his own company that would do it. It definitely took some calls - but I found someone amazing. Worth the extra trouble. The rear window should be easier to pop out - I think there's butyl around the outsides. Versus the front windshield which is basically epoxied on!

Installers make a nice profit on the glass in many cases. I have a guy here in town that is experienced with Mercedes glass so I think I can make it happen. Just gotta get it here.

If you order through MB Laredo or another internet dealer in Texas, likely you will be able to get the glass at a MAJOR discount if you are able to pick it up yourself by traveling to the dealer.

My own local dealer, MB Annapolis (www.getmercedesparts.com), is selling this same glass for $637.50, which is MAJOR BUCKS off of the $1,020 list price, plus 6% Maryland sales tax and a $3.00 "internet" fee" .... so the glass for me will cost $678.75 out the door. If I paid retail it would be pushing $1,100 for that piece of glass.
