Just to recap my 500E story. I while back a friend of mine with a 500SL saw the Taxi movie when I still had my mint 1989 300E and told me about the 500E car. Later on I had a chance to read the story about the W124.036 cars and in 2005 I bought my Pearl Black 1992 500E from the original owner in Santa Barbra, CA and I haven't stopped smiling to this day. I'm just glad that these cars were made to begin with for us to enjoy and can't see my self in a new Mercedes anytime soon.

Mods I have done since ownership:

> ECU and A/F have been re-mapped for more power and richer output (using proprietary software), dyno runs to follow

> HID Xenon headlight and fog lights conversion - 6000K replacement bulbs

So since I am now in the market to invest in these fine automobiles, I have desided to join this site and learn more about the cars...but I have one concern and it has to do with this site's honcho. Online rumor has it, that he's nothing more than an arrogant asshole and a complete douche and that has me concerned about joing a site being ran by such a person. Are the rumors true?

That he is, and more ! 110% true. Maybe even 122% on a bad day.
He's has a long lineage in America. His many great grandfather, Benedict Arnold Honcho was a Revolutionary War hero, for the British, but a hero none the less. His great great great uncle, John Wilkes Honcho, kindly paid for President Lincoln's tickets for a play at the Ford theater while his cousin, Lee Harvey Honcho, had something to with his Johnson becoming the big cheese in the USA during the Sixties.
Gerry himself personally designed the O-Rings for the Space Shuttle Challenger.
He's also friends with Al Gore but that's hitting below the belt.

No, Ron, you have it all wrong. I didn't design the Challenger o-rings .... I installed them incorrectly (upside down) with predictable results.

Guess I didn't learn my lesson when I started wrenching on Benz flex discs, shock washers & ground wires.

OK, I'm going to make some attempt at being serious for a change.
It's easy to be misunderstood on any internet forum, things happen. If we were sitting at dinner or in a bar and someone said that about me I'm probably give them the finger and look away and everyone would laugh. Or make some growling noise and that would be the end of it. Or maybe come back with a witty, IMHO if no one elses, comment. End of story.
We don't have that luxury on the net where we are only judged by our words at any given moment in time where a reply make take several hours if not days. It's easy to make a Pee-Wee Herman into a Ron Jeremy.
Part of what I like is the good natured bantering that goes back and forth. It's usually done without malice. And it can be misunderstood if taken too seriously. Sometimes we say things when in person we would say "oops" or whatever.
And, here's where my sick mind comes in, part of the "fun" is to see someone get worked up over something small. It's not personal and it's usually directed at what the person did or did not do (their actions) rather than at the person himself. BIG difference.
Few, if any, people on this board have done as many stupid things as I have. I make mistakes and go on. Sometimes I'm called on it and that's life, I learn. Mostly I learn to just it roll off me.
We are a group of gentlemen with a common interest, that should be enough to "put up" with our different personalities.

Just my 2 cents and not worth even that, but I had to say it.

This situation nothing but sad. It is some strong minded individualities here, and some statements are thrown away too fast without thoughts about the consequence. They are probably not ment to be offending, so then it is easy to apologize in the next moment. But if it repeats too many times, does the excuses lose it's power. So, some are too cheeky, and some are too sensitive, and in a mix with cultural differences may this be a bad combo. We must also be aware of the fact that people have quite various life situations.

Ron500E has several times put very good words on how easily things can be misunderstood when sitting behind a keyboard. The personal relation is not present and you need some training to read between the lines, because it's always written a lot - if not most, between the lines. However, the most ambitious statements must be smoothened, while the receivers have to relaxe and don't let their emotions, pride or whatever it is, be triggered and shoot off in anger & defence. Why should my greatest hobby taking so much time and effort, give me enemies?!? Bad create badness and good create goodness! So please chill down in both ends of the emotional barometer!

I don't say I am a superior example to handle this myself, but let me support what Patrick said in post#6:

Ok, looks like I should answer some of these questions, so here we go.

I agree, that is why I emailed your "God" back in December of last year and asked him what he meant by his statement, but got no reply. Maybe things would have turned out differently, but I never got an answer, so we will never know.

I usually don't give a flying fuck what people say online, but for someone to run their mouth after a member has left the board is B.S. and that is the way to took it. If I was still a member and read that statement, I might have let it go, but since that statement was made after I left the board (as well as the other past members who were mentioned in that statement), I didn't much care how that statement was written and why me and the other people were being put down by the "El Doucho".

What new mods have you done ?

None recently, but a few mods are in the works for May of this year. I've been tracking my car more often than before, so I need to have the car checked out for wear before any mods go on. In my last track event, I was able to run the car on the Mazda Raceway (almost pissed my pants when I took the Corkscrew for the first time, at the speed I was going) and I heard a few new "clunks" that were not there before the track event, so I need to have the car checked out thoroughly next week.
