Best Options for floor mats

Trunk mats and factory floor mats are all still available from MB.
Another good company to consider for floor mats of better quality and perfect fit is Lloyd Mats, which are sold via many aftermarket firms or via their web site. I love the little metal clips they sell to keep the mats in place in the car and have the clips installed in all of my cars.
I think the web site is www.lloydmats.com or something like that, you can Google it.

Those Lloyd mats ain't cheap, but then again the OE mats have gone up in price drasticallty. A few years ago the OE mats were ~$80 list for a set, now they are $130 list! Crazy. $102/set from parts.com.
Another option are the OE black rubber all-weather mats, these are p/n Q-668-0345, $75 list, $60/set from parts.com at the moment. I have these in a couple of my cars, they're quite nice, and much more durable than the carpet mats - recommended for daily drivers, or if you have kids, or live in a wet/dirty area, etc.

I believe that you can have custom embroidery done with the Lloyd Mats, so if you wanted to have "500E" on the mats, you could do this with the Lloyds. With MB mats you only get the heel pad and MB logo.
Also, MB mats have gotten dramatically cheaper in quality in recent years compared to what they used to be. The MB mats are thinner and much more flexible and thus move around and bunch up much more than the thicker Lloyd Mats. I got an overstocked pair of MB factory palomino mats for my 560SL and I hate them -- eventually will replace them with Lloyds. I have black factory mats in my wife's E 320 wagon (W124) and Lloyds in my E500 & 560SEC.

I just got Jay a set of the OEM black MB ones...$97.50. I think the OE mats are still a good deal even at full retail, other German car OE mats (at least Porsche and Audi) ones are usually closer to $200 for a full set of carpeted ones....and the OE Porsche ones are total crap !!
These new MB mats now come with nice metal clips for the fronts and seem beefier than previous OE mats I've gotten...anyway.
Its worth looking at them again I think.

Perhaps a friendly board member would be willing to help you on this.... perhaps you could do the order with your own credit card number, and then have them shipped to a US address, and then re-shipped to you for the cost of doing such.Paul64 said:

In the case of our cars (being left hand only) , OE mats are sourced in mainland EU, so you should be able to get the same ones in France from any MB dealer.

Thanks for the heads up - I need new dark green mats and it seems the OE versions are no longer available here, remaining colour choices being basically black, grey and beige....
Certainly, the originals are in good condition I guess though the foam backing is disintegrating and there are some stains that look like paint(!) on one of the rear ones.
I might approach someone in the UK for the manufacture of some high-quality Wilton carpets, Rolls Royce standard for example, and see what that turns up - using the originals as a pattern, it shouldn't be too difficult.
Something else to ponder this weekend!

Paul, my guy at MB parts dept here is very knowledgeable - the type who knows part numbers on top of his head and very helpful. I'll check with him if he can find/source a set of dark greens for you. I'm due to pick up some ordered parts next week and I'll ask him then.

Do you have a picture of these? I went all weather in the Allroad, and like them more than the carpet, no matter what. They're just easier to live with -- beach, rain, whatever.

See that's "crisp, clean, and no caffeine" as in the old 7Up commercials. Love 'em. Simple and elegant. I may even go without the AMG logo on the SClass mats for something that clean. I don't think they did an AMG specific mat, but the logo is already on the door sills. Admittedly I hadn't spent much time on the topic until now. But I may just knock these down for the E and the S at the same time. Thanks for the ideas, Fellas.

+1. I have these in my car and they are perfect, just not as plush since they are rubber, but they keep the car nice and dry and look good.
I can't find the pn# for OE rubber all-weather mats. Are they even still available ?

I just noticed I was active on this thread earlier. I ended up with the all weathers for the E5E. More good money spent. And for good measure I sourced new mats for the S55 with the AMG logo, which I think are now NLA. I've just kept these all weathers on the top of the carpet. Love 'em (after the smell wore off).
From what I can tell, Drew is doing you a real solid, as these are NLA too. I think they were scarce when I got mine (maybe 2014) so I just jumped on them when I saw them. More dumb luck (or blessed life).

The biggest problem I am having regarding overmats is just keeping them in place!! They slide around and irritate me.
Has anyone ever used some sort of universal clip / grippers or something along those lines? I'm really curious how I can better secure the mats. My w140 still has the original mats in as new condition. But again the driver's mat moves around and the little flap on the footrest flops down and looks unsightly

My opinion these are the best, Heavy (set weighs about 23 lbs) duty natural rubber keeps these where they are to be since they are identical in size to the carpets, about 3/8" thick too. Worth the price.

I might try a set of coco mats in one of my cars soon – I dolike some of the patterns. But mostly I am a stickler for original mats andwould rather retain those. I think since these cars never had factory matfixings (Like newer model Mercedes do for example) and the foam backing wears /falls off with age then they slide around the footwell quite a lot.
I am wondering if maybe an additional layer of somethinglike the rubber Tool “gripper roll” material cut to size and placed between thecarpets would do the trick? I don’t really want to use double sided rug grippertape as that might damage the under-carpet surface. The only other option wouldbe to adopt some sort of metal carpet clip and self tap screw it into the metalchannel under the front seat frame member. The idea being that the clamp gripsonto the mat edge and stops if moving around. But this is also not ideal as thescrews will cause minor damage to the original undercarpets.
I might ask Coco Mats if they can provide a set for a RHD W140 SWB

That's exactly the sort of clip I'm after. Tried eBay for those numbers and many search terms but these seem nigh on impossible to find. But that's the idea alright!
W124 all-weather rubber floor mats are p/n BQ-668-0345. AFAIK they are still available. Note the rear mats don't fit perfectly in V8 models (034/036).

Yeah, I think the 55 is destined for a set. Having a new set of originals delayed that destiny, but I actually think the coco set I have in mind will look better, now that the OEM box is checked.

I just did some searching online. I really prefer the OE appearance but it looks like nothing that's currently available has a heel pad. Bummer.
I just ordered some cocomats in black/grey coco style. $300 so better be worth it...
What's the best way to get clips in for the mats as of 2024?
Are clips needed for this car? I'd say wait until you get them and then see. I doubt you'll need clips.

EDIT ... I ended up with Coco for the S55 and haven't needed clips. All weather MB for the E5E have been perfect. If I changed it would be for a set of all wool Coco. Funny, in the FL heat, the BMW all weathers have begun to deform but not the MB. So I guess the M3 will also get Coco.
So far, Coco have been better than every OEM mat except the Allroad all weather mats. My E5E mats have always been buried under extra mats so I have no idea (true story).
