SOLD 1994 E60 AMG code 957 code, Pearl Black/Black, 185kkm, £150k (Croatia)

Hi,

I've been looking for an E60 for a long time, and of course it happened that on the same day I was contacted by two collectors with whom I was in contact, and both wanted to sell me their E60. And screw it, I couldn't resist, but I can only keep one for myself! I decided to keep one that has bigger mileage but it has original paint.

Therefore, I am selling an E60 from 1994 with a 957 code, that is, a real E60, even one of those that says E60 in the EPC and not E500. The car is in top condition, original 180,000km, there is documentation that confirms it, BLUE-BLACK - METALLIC PAINT (199U) with black leather inside. The car is repainted and the job is well done, i have paint thickness mesurements. The radio is unfortunately not original and armrest is american style that opens, everything else is original!

Car is a beast, drives soooo good, it has AMG aero 3 rims(17”, 8.5 front, 10 back). No rust, no problems, tyres are shit and it needs new tyres.
You can sent me private message here on the forum and ill get back to you.
Also, sorry but my English is not perfect.

Car looks nice! Where are you located? The headlights are for left-hand-traffic (UK/Japan).

Another member found the car put up for sale here, on Pistonheads.
Asking price is £150.000, can't decipher the VIN from the image with the ID-plate.

That is an old add, not valid anymore!

Supposed the sales price ended at £150 it is positive prospects not only for the E60 AMG owners, but for 6.0 AMG conversion owners as well. I guess my car wouldn't fetch that price since it is modified and has a colour change from 172 to 040, but the 6.0 conversion was at least done by AMG.

@Goran124 , do you know what's happened to the number plate (E60 AMG)?? Did the person who sold you the car keep the number plate? would imagine so as the cars in Croatia with yourself, but it's worth it to ask.. Do you know if he had any plans on selling it?..?

Does?, did?, the number plate E60AMG ever exist? I assumed that this plate was fitted to the car for sale purposes?

If it did exist, it would be difficult to put a price tag on it? It would only be useful for UK registered cars, and how many (few) of those are there?

Yeah it exists, this plates still registered to the car if you do a number plate check (car still does not show as exported funnily enough). Yeah as you say, would be useful for only UK cars, but I know of about 3 E60s in the UK so maybe of interest to the owners... Very niche market for both the 500s and E60s on our side of the world

I'm asking also as I own '5 OOE' , which will be going on a pre facelift 500 when the times right for us to buy one (also waiting for the right car to come along, as we're quite picky). So will be interesting to see what price he might be after if he does come to parting with it, just pure curiosity tbh.

The closest I've got to getting anything akin to E500 , is E 500 W (which I own - it should read E 5 OOW!).

A friend of mine, also a 500E owner, has E 500 E !!!
Yeah met the gentleman who has E5 OOE at the W124 event in 2023.. Lovely car and the plates nice too.

Upon buying the 500 E plate we thought it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity does no harm to put car on hold for a bit for it ha ha.. If it means having THE plate.

Plates are still on the car and car is still in the UK, it will be picked up soon with truck and it will leave UK, just sorting paperwork! Plates are going to stay with the seller, i can check if he wants to sell plates, but at the moment he is not in UK…he went to Ibiza

Wait aren't you the seller? I understood that you bought two but can only keep one of them.
Haha…man, yes i bought the car and i i found a buyer right away! But im not from England!!! How can i have those plates?!!!! Isnt it logical that im talking about English guy who had the car and ENGLISH plates in ENGLAND?!
I cant have those plates, the guy i bought car from has the plates…😂
What am i going to do with those plates in EU? 😳

And here is info…price for the plates is 5000£! I guess its not easy to get those plates in UK since he is asking that much?
In Croatia you can get almost any plates you want for 300€…but also in Croatia first 2 letters must be short for the town car is registered in. So you can get ZG-E60-AMG (zagreb) or ST-E60-AMG (Split)…os any other town, lots of choices…
I guess E60 AMG plates in England are unique, right?

Dear All...just to clarify everyone's doubts and questions, Goran124 has indeed bought my car which is the subject of this thread and another member has provisionally agreed to buy the registration plate, for the anoraks who are questioning the mileage...car has been in dehumidified storage for last 5 years and mileage has not moved and is very much genuine with all evidence to prove, I have enjoyed the car during my 20 years of ownership and its time to move on and let someone else enjoy this great car.

Any future questions should be addressed directly to Goran124 who is very knowledgeable on the model...in a way I am very sad to see it go however it was being wasted sitting in storage doing nothing instead of being enjoyed.

Is that a gentleman from the Bath area?

He attends the Sussex MB owners club meetings I believe.
Yeah I’m quite sure he’s from the Bath area, I do remember him mentioning, however, raven can correct me if I’m wrong.

I saw this car at a 2023 Mercedes Benz club meet, photo as attached. Lovely ex japan example.

The Bath based car with reg E500E is next to it!

It’s definitely the same guy, it has the 2 badges on the front grill.

I’m catching up with my MB owners clubs magazine reading today and there was a letter to the editor in one I’ve read today from the owner of a 1991 500E who resides in West London.

What does the red German number plate mean?
I was curious myself, so: copied from the web: the red German license plate is intended for dealers (e.g. vehicle manufacturers, dealers, workshops) for test, inspection and transfer journeys of otherwise unregistered vehicles), in this case issued by the city of Stuttgart

Hmmm, driving a car from the Netherlands to Croatia on German trade plates, what could go wrong? 🤷‍♂️

They look much more “permanent” than UK trade plates:

Also just to make it clear that bloke in the picture is myself and I am not an owner of any of the 036s shown on that photograph. :jono:

I use a number of different sources depending on what info I’m after.

E60AMG is showing as “no vehicle found” on the Car Check Details app but still on the car according to the Vehicle Smart app.

For some reason the E60 has 2 MOT entries on 28th November 2024 and no tests for the car have a test number. I suspect the car will disappear from Vehicle Smart soon.

Also nothing on the .gov DVLA website.

That plate (E60 AMG) has been sold to a good friend of mine and is soon going on their E60, I believe that’s why it wouldn’t be pulling up a car at the moment on car check and DVLA site.

I’m assuming that the vehicle smart app is yet to update.

Sorry, I missed the slightly later message that the plate was available and offered for £5k.

I’m bored over Christmas with nothing better to do 😀
