WANTED Parts needed for my 1993 500E restoration

Dear All,

I used to be a stalker in this forum for a long time but it is the time to chime in since I have started to restore my beloved US version 1993 500E. Currently the car is on the lift and everything underbody has been removed for replacement/cleaning and body is carefully getting inspected for proper restoration. My goal is to put it back to factory condition as much as I can. And yes, I will completely clean the body and repaint it as well.
Long story short, I am looking for these parts (I know they are NLA and hard to find but asking would never hurt):

A 124 884 15 35 - Fender liner
A 124 884 16 35 - Fender liner
A 124 524 27 30 - Engine bay undercover
A 124 820 53 12 - Headlight lens
A 124 820 54 12 - Headlight lens

I need passenger side US headlight lens, the driver side is good but would be great if a pair can be found (like a miracle)..

Cheers everyone and happy new year in advance!

Bests,

S

Tough orders to fill. The fender liners have been NLA for the past 3-5 years. There's probably 5-7 people here looking for those plastic engine bay under-covers, so that part is in very high demand.

Headlights and/or lenses do come up here with regularity, but expect to pay $500-1,000 for a used set of LENSES in decent shape, $1,500 for a new/NOS set of lenses only.

I have the fender liners, new, but I have to charge my standard price for NLA parts in my stock of $5,000 for the pair, shipping inclusive.

You can get anything you want or need, with enough patience, and money. :spend:

The 500E headlight DOORS - I'd say those are even rarer than NOS lenses. Yikes.

BUT, everything eventually becomes available on eBay. Put a permanent search on eBay that alerts you when the items you want come up, and then you need to be prepared to jump on them.

@1993500E_Miami is looking for the USA-spec 500E plastic headlight "doors"... I haven't seen a set of those for sale, I think, ever? At least not since they went NLA a few years ago. The standard 124 variants are also NLA.

I feel like I must have literally gotten the last set of these. @gsxr it was seeing your car that you sold @oaklandw124 sitting at Satish’s that made me get off my arse and order them. Gracias once again…

Ditto what everyone else has said about the other parts minus @gerryvz $5k on the fender liners. I can’t second that one.

I think these have officially moved into “buy a parts car” territory. FWIW my car wore standard W124 lenses forever before I realized it. Didn’t detract from the function of the car. I kept those of course as spares. I want to say half the cars that come up for sale these days have non.036 headlight parts. I’m not sure it matters for anything except resale.

I'm a little bit surprised that there is still no reproduction of the engine undercover. People are making carbon fiber body kits for almost every new performance car no one thought about making the carbon fiber engine undercover for 500e?

I wanted to try it with 400e undercover, but didn't had time and money to make a mold.

I see some aftermarket engine undercover listings on the web and ebay as well, I will order one to see if they are correct in design and quality. Hope it will work. I have sources worldwide as being the official BRABUS dealer in Miami, but even BRABUS Germany does not have anything for these vehicles. During my last visit in factory at Bottrop, I see multiple 500E and E60 cars waiting for 6-star restoration but they can't move on due to parts unavailability.

I found the same NOS fender liner pair in Abu Dhabi but their asking price is similar to yours, maybe you are inspiring the world with your special NLA pricing :)

Have any links to the web or eBay listings? I'm curious what is being sold, and at what price. Remember this particular fiberglass shield is unique to the 124.036 chassis and will not fit any other 124 chassis.

Yikes. That's depressing. Any word on what specific parts they are unable to source?

Are you off the 836 and next to the mb dealership? I wanted to stop by there but I haven’t yet lol

Here in this link, the seller claims the part fits 500E but the part number below is not good for 500E but the other regular models. I ordered this part from Yoshi Parts, they confirmed the payment and my order but later the shipping charges came out as a gigantic number so I cancelled.

Yep, that eBay vendor is selling a reproduction of p/n 124-524-15-30 but that is for 6-cylinder gas models. It does not fit the V8 models (and, the .034 and .036 each have their own unique part number, with different shape). Their fitment / interchange data is wrong, the eBay seller assumes all 124's are the same. They are not.

What happened to "free shipping" t o 48 states?
