Jeff0093, I was thinking of you when I posted this. Also, Jimbo has seen this car. Make sure you PPI it, some fender & paint work was mentioned. GLWS to you both. Score!

Hey Dave, I heard from the AZ purchase guy and he said it was not his! bizzare coincidence. It is not the same car.

I'm slightly confused... has anyone talked to the owner of the car for sale?

:duck:

This car is listed in the Trading Post section of the September/October edition of The Star. Listing includes owner phone number and email address.

Now that its clear that this is the Gainsville car, not the AZ car, I wanted it and had it PPI'd and all it needed was motor, tranny mounts, fluids and all the regular stuff and a few other items which slips my mind, it was a few months ago. My PPI said it needed around $6k to bring it up to snuff at a good Indy, not Dealership, which would have been more. A very nice car if the mkt will bear the price. A good example for a DIY guy unlike myself. I thought high teens though, not $25k. I left a standing $18k offer. all is only IMHO.

Yes, too many sellers out of touch with the reality of costs/maintenance associated with these cars (and MB in general). They all want top dollar, fully maintained prices on their cars that often need a lot of maintenance catch up. Only less knowledgeable buyers will bite, and then either get stuck on the maint catch up expenses, or try to move the car on down the line once they learn of the hidden maintenance liabilities....obviously preaching to the choir here.

I would say that is indeed high...let it sit. I would think 18K is probably even high based on my own purchase experience this year. However, I defer to the Subject Matter Experts.

He's $5-7K too heavy on this car, though the exact amount is dependent on maintenance records. $6K of deferred maintenance, as identified by the PPI. I'd probably round that up to $10K to make the car worthy of $25K asking price.

A $17-$18K offer is right on target for this car.

Car looks good, wish it were closer for me to have a look at it.

M

It's way over-priced.... A good benchmark price for this car would be Darby's teal/green car which Aaron bought a couple months back. Aaron paid somewhere in the ballpark of $20k.

The fact that it's been for sale nearly 6 months, and appears to be a clean car overall, pretty much confirms the asking price is above (current) market reality. DRW's post above (#12) kinda confirms it.

:watchdrama:

Anyone know if this car is still for sale? AutoCheck shows a title issued in July 2013.
