Thank you guys for your kind comments towards my 500E. My hat goes off to Karl for his Internet browsing skills and finding those links to the case study of the paint polishing job on my car. Indeed, I bought Dr. No's car about 18 months ago, but most of the members from this forum already know the story.

As Gerry mentioned, I'm working on getting my car as close as possible to the level of perfection of some of the other cars from this forum.

The threads Karl shared on this post were published by my good friend Richard Lin (aka Octane Guy), who is a Master Paint Polisher and Detailer. Richard and his lovely wife Gillian are the only people I trust to work on my cars. Their work always exceeds my very high expectations.

Karl, would you please organize the next GTG for Southern California members, so I can finally have the chance to meet you in person?

If it's the original emblem on original paint I would leave it. If it's like Hipower's ,baked all these years under the sun, then it will show a mark especially on dark paint. I got away with mine twice (original E500 badge then 200D and finally debadged ) on Silver/744 and didn't leave a mark - well, not as far as i can see anyway. Did my 9years old ML last weekend and boy, did my hands ache or what from rubbing and rubbing trying to rid the marks - I would say 98% successful but there's still a mark there under the sun. So in short, unless you're planning on a respray or just replacing the badge, I'd leave it!

I'm not either, Bing. The usual stepped lip on most multi-pieced wheels makes them look smaller. These are OZ Opera. I believe 8.5 and 10s. They were available in multiple sizes but are becoming hard to find over here. I have a set in 8.5 I'm refinishing. They are one of my favorites and they look great on your car, Ernesto!

I, on the other hand, prefer the step lip on wheels for the 036 - makes the car look period correct, not too mention a bit of the bling affect when the barrels are polished. Plus the step lip wheels make the car look a big more aggressive and multiple pice wheels are lighter, not too mention easier to fix.

The worst thing one can do, is slap newer looking wheels on a 20 year old car and think it looks good...

Drew is correct, these are OZ Opera II Made in Italy. 18X8.5 Front and 18X10 Rears. I agree with Steve's opinion, the OZ Opera wheels have a similar design to the BRABUS Monoblock IV, both wheels are contemporary design from the 90's and enhance in a correct way the appearance from our cars.

Eric Schuster (Envious Detailing http://www.enviousautodetailing.com/ (714) 356-5145 EnviousDetailing@gmail.com) does my cars. Really cool guy and does good work. He will drive to your house and spend all day (and late into the evening) bringing your paint back to life. While he will clean the interior, he is more of a exterior paint specialist.

So who did the detailing and where are they located?
