The bracket is $75.60 at parts.com.

The rubber bushings are $3.24 (you need 4).

Looks like the whole assembly can be had for about $100.

Thanx a lot !! :cheers3:

Then my dealer price is $75 too ...

Ok anybody has a used one here ? :apl:

I dont use this supporting mount/bracket and i believe its not really that necessary... The exhaust is totally stiff if properly mounted and doesn't move at all (at least on my car.).
I have a question though, the car in the picture of the OP, whos car is that?
It looks like NEW from below, especially the the exhaust loops like brand new and most likely never saw a winter. However the Cats are aftermarket?

Why would MB have used such a support on their cars (my 126 SEC also has an identical support) if it was not necessary?

Because the cars are "over-engineered" :-)
No seriously, i can't use it because my gearbox fell down once and one of the two holes at the transmission is gone. So it does not make sense for me using it.
I will do so in the future though, when i bought a used gearbox and overhauled it. :-) :-)
But so far, it works perfectly without.

I think you know this particular car ;) I ve attached a pic of E6.5

That's a key support for the exhaust. Get on it!

I ll get it sir :cheers1:
It seems I do not have it since I bought this car. Somebody just forgot to put it back

So anybody, I know lots of people parted out V8 W124 cars, let me know. I do not feel comfortable to pay $100 for that piece :-?

I called my dealer to get the scoop, since it had been $105 MBNA list in 2013. MBNA list on that part is now $236. (!!!)

That's a ~130% price hike from Dec-2013. Expect to see parts.com, MBFL, etc all show the new BOHICA prices within a week or so. I'll be scared to look up the new 2014 price on some things.

Side note - Romas dealer marked up 15% from MNBA list ($236 x 1.15 = $271.40), then gave him a 20% discount. Mighty generous of them, eh?

:runexe:

Wait, it gets better. For p/n 124-492-46-41:

Jan 2009 = $22 list
Jan 2010 = $23 list
Jan 2011 = $25 list
Jan 2012 = $51 list
Jan 2013 = $105 list
Jan 2014 = $236 list

Inventory control by price increase. Nobody will pay $236 for that piece of metal.

Dave when are you getting a 3D printer so you can start making parts ?

Honestly, I will not buy this thing new even if somebody will give me money just to prove my point that this is ridiculous :o

I m glad there are bunch of 034 that you can source parts from if the dealer goes COMPLETELY nuts. This is my first time I faced with way too unreasonable pricing.
I m curious what is going on pricing on parts for WDB201036 EVO II this year:teufel:

It's why parts cars are becoming so ever more important.

True. Also it is a good idea to renew all 036 with the new parts and forget about crazy mark ups forever.

$236 for that? Wow...

$271 for mere mortal + tax which is about $300. Sounds like we drive Ferrari F40 , Lol

OK, time to stop crying in the beer, and suck it up deal with it.

Personally, I would source one of these (used) and install it. IMHO it's a critical item that supports the exhaust, in case one or more of the hangers break. And the exhaust hangers DO break, with fair regularity. I have had all of them break at one time or another. Think of this bracket as a partial insurance policy for your exhaust system.

Just think ... with all the snow y'all are having, you have plenty of time to source and fix it :) It's supposed to get down to 30 degrees here tonight (fifth slight frost of the season), but be back up to 70F on Saturday. Probably the day I'll reinstall my 104.992 cylinder head.

True, I ll get it anyway.

Few days we had -25F and constantly having -20-22F day (!!!) temperature so yea, no kidding it is a right time to go to junkyard :D... Soooo jealous about your temperature ...

Important note: If chicks find out the price of the brackets, 100% they will be excited about guys who buy them :agree:

When I had my cat-back exhaust put on, I asked for the hangers that have the chain inside of them, for extra security the higher cost compared to non-chained hangers is worth it.

I use these chain-hangers for some applications, but not all.

Thank you, Mr. Bernanke. Well done!

Someone here on the board just HAS to have a parts car where they can supply this piece of metal to Roma cheaply....

The bracket is $75.60 at parts.com.

I don't understand what happened. When I input part # 124 492 4641 last night, it came up with $75.60. Today, it's showing $169.20. I entered all the parts connected to that bracket to see if I could have mistakenly entered a related part, but nothing comes close to the $75.60 price. :wtf:

In any case, my apologies on the misstatement.

Do not worry Mercedes went nuts with price mark ups in 2014

Why would MB have used such a support on their cars (my 126 SEC also has an identical support) if it was not necessary?

As Gerry mentioned, the bracket is critical as a backup
If/when tha rubber hangers fail.

MB has been using them long before our cars were built.

Jon, you were correct... the Jan-1 price hikes didn't show on parts.com (or MBFL, or the other Trademotion vendors) until Friday morning, Jan-3. You saw last year's price on Jan-2, and it doubled as of Jan-3.

:(

Thanks, Dave. That's just plain gouging. My opinion of the new Mercedes (quality and support) was low to begin with. Now, they are just going to alienate what's left of the supporters of their older products -- the products that gave them their reputation that they no longer deserve. I guess they really do want to build a disposable car that people only own (or preferably lease) for three years.

Yup, W203, W220, W163 are vivid proof of that. Also W211, W215 in some sense too...

Newer cars , I belive W204 is made in Africa =( Seems like eventually only G class , S class , CL/SL will be only German made.

I still did not hear back from guys who might have bracket ?

GUYS please 036 wants her bracket back =)

MB is going to make it hurt this time. Do you think Autohaus will mark their parts up accordingly? That may take the place of parts.com as my primary supplier.

I'm hitting the local yards tomorrow and have no problem pulling one for you if I find a 400e. Price should be around $10-30 depending on how insignificant a part I can convince them it is. :) give me the ok and I will grab you one.

Sure , I would really appreciate that ! Let me know if you find it .

It is a 034-036 only part number, no wonder they marked it up so high.

Sounds like a metal shop could do a good business making copies of the bracket.

I wonder if another chassis type bracket could be modded to work?

I know there's a PDF above, but a screen shot may be easier for some.

AHAZ does not have good prices on "Genuine MB" parts -- you will always do MUCH better with parts.com. It is extremely likely that AHAZ does not even carry this part at all.

The only place where AHAZ shines is for OEM parts -- in situations where we know for sure that the manufacturer is offering the identical part that they supply to MB. Then generally you can get it for much less when it is branded with the OEM brand, not the MB brand. But in some situations like this bracket ... it's the MB way or the highway (or the junkyard).

I'll bet if Roma can't get a used part, he's going to be walking funny for a few days if he decides to get the MB part..... :D

Very possible, a guy over in that other forum claims he has a V8 bracket and cross member.

My parts are fine, but I'm always looking for 034/036 specific parts.

When I get the package I'll compare it to mine. I'll know Tuesday or Wednesday if it's real.

Mine............

Yup , any V8 bracket (E420, 400E, E500E) should work. Keep me posted please.

Yes I will, EPC shows the part # is only for 034/036 so we should be good if he's right.

I have checked my local junkyard and it looks like Pat picked up the the whole E420 for his V8 wagon project that was sold to Ron. So I do not have a chance to grab this mount.

ANYBODY here, please help me find this thing ?
:tumble:

Not sure I can part with that.

Seems like an extremely hard to find V8 item. 034/036 only.

If mine were to break, I'd be in the same boat looking for one.

I may post a teaser pic though............

Like new condition, even the kickdown wire clips.

There are enough 034s found in the yards that one ought to become available soon enough. Next time I see an 034 I'll grab this part. May be 3-6 months though, you never know.

There's an 034 currently in one of the Dallas pick-your-part wrecking yards, so perhaps texas993 would snag the part for you if you gave him enough coin.....
