* Let's have a test and tune day in So. Cal.

There's been an interesting development. My wife's shower party is the same day as this first race. I am going to make the argument that I should take the kids to get them out of her hair and just be scarce on that day so that she and her friends can have a peaceful, enjoyable day. What do you think?

Ah, never mind. This idea is already going down in flames. Forget I mentioned it.

We might as well go ahead and start making plans for that April 5 date, since it is less than a month away. Who's going? I'll probably get to go, since we now have my wife's cousin staying here with us, to help with Mommy and baby. I'll probably get to bring the two older kids too.

Speaking of baby, unbelieveably, he's still not out yet! We both feared he would be a little early, since our first two were. Mommy's current condition reminds of the famous egg eating scene in Cool Hand Luke. My wife doesn't appreciate the obvious parallel. (She in fact doesn't appreciate much of anything right now.) The kids and me keep watching the part starting at 6:00. Mommy is not amused.

I'll be bringing B5 this time to "prove a point". Just like I did with B1 and B3! (Just like Cool Hand Luke did!)
I don't have much of a choice anyways since nothing else is dragstrip ready.

So who's going?

OK guys, after more than two years we finally have a chance to put together a drags day. Where is everybody?

The new kid is out! All is well with Mother and child!

Sorry I browse all the time on my phone but I hate posting from it. I can't make the April 5th date. Eric, the band is playing the Riverside Air Show, you should bring the kids! I will attempt to make the 19th.

I don't want to miss yet another track day! I've already been jonesin' for over two years!

I understand, a gig is a gig, but please don't be mad if I choose track over air show.

What's up with Stevo Devo?

We've named the child Jeffrey. Goes well with Jerry. Kind of ironic though seeing as how my MOST FAVORITE person on this site is named Jeff!

There are lots of other folks who read this thread. Isn't there ANYBODY else here in So Cal who wants to join us at the track?

First test day at Firebird is March 31... woo-hoo!!! Time to dust off the cobwebs and figure out how to cut a light all over again.

:e500launch: :tree: :e500launch:

I thought Dave was your MOST FAVORITE person on this site !

I was being sarcastic. Jeff's the fellow who sold me a "running" 4.2 with NO oil tubes. And still to this day has made zero effort to rectify the error.

Dave, my plans for moving to North Calif didn't work out. I had dreams of you and me racing at Sacramento someday. Are you ever going to be in So Cal?

What about you Uncle Gerry? I know you do get around a lot.

Or in Fillipino, Jepprey.

I'm not gonna touch that! Not even with Uncle Gerry's ten foot pole!

You may laugh and make jokes, but you've never seen this woman's dark side!

I wanted to name our daughter "Faith" but I was affraid it would get changed to "Pait".

Apparently Eric hasn't seen the SoCal GTG thread. :jelmerian:

Eric, I am usuaully in Sacto once or twice per year, but it isn't likely I'd go back to Sacramento Raceway. Their track prep is awful, all you do is spin at launch. Waste of time and money. I want to try Sears Point / Infineon / whatever next time and see if they are any better.

:burnout:

Yeah......... uhmm, that's not going to work for me. For a multitude of reasons. First and foremost is the fact that this date is AFTER the wife's cousin leaves and the wife will be on her own with her C-section and our new infant son Jeffrey. C-sections take forever to heal. She's not going to appreciate me leaving her alone to go play. Since this sounds like a wife friendly event, the thought breifly entered my mind to bring her too, that is untill my sleep deprived mind remembered that bringing her means bringing Jeffrey too because the infant and the mammary glands need to be kept in very close proximity to each other for the next several months. It just doesn't seem like an infant friendly event. Plus we will probably still be too damm tired to want to participate.

Has it ever occurred to anyone that the best way to get more folks to bring their 036s to the drags is to plan one of these GTGs at/on a track day?

Uncle Gerry, why don't you come to So Cal a little early so you can come to our next track day?

More bad news. The wife's cousin has to leave us early because her Mother has taken ill. I'm taking her back tonight. This means nobody will be here to help Mommy except the kids, that's if she decides she wants me to leave them here with her. Either way, leaving her here to go racin' is not going to go over well. Bringing her with us is still not an option. "Maybe when the baby is older" is all I get at this point.

If it's going to be a cool day I'm pretty much going to insist on going, and I'll just live with the fallout. She can decide if she wants the kids to stay or go. If it's going to be a warm day though I'll just skip it, as the price at that point won't be worth it. It will also depend a lot on whether or not Stevo is going.

What's the word Stevo?

I agree. But in my own defense, I attended this track more recently than anyone else! I was the ONLY one here who attended the 02/2012 Street Legals which was the LAST track day before the big shutdown over two years ago. I filed my race report and even posted a video from that date back on page 14. Here we are now on our THIRD track day since the big re-opening and STILL nobody is going! I also have BY FAR the best attendance record of ANY other W124 pilot in So. Cal.! That's why I know that your remarks are actually directed at Stevo and the Sauceman!

I will be watching Dallas to see what the weather is looking like for that day. If it's going to be a stellar cool day, I'll plan on going, But ONLY if it is going to be a stellar cool day!

Regards,
Eric

Speaking of attendance, no one else went out to the twisty tracks I attended (while the drag races were in limbo) so I would leave the drama with somebody else, at least I went racing anyway...so technically, it's the rest of y'all SoCal "racers" who are falling behind.

That was my "defense". :e500launch:

Unckie Ger Ger is just giving us all shit again. ALL of us here have been to a track more recently than he has.
I haven't been to a drag strip in probably 6-6.5 years.

But the way you guys are sitting around dramatizing & pissing & making excuses as to why you can't go to the drag strip, it's getting more and more likely that I'm going to get to one of the three drag strips in our area (or the Houston Half Mile down at Ellington Field) before any of you guys stop circle-jerking and actually get to the strip again. :lolol:

Hell, by the time y'all are ready to drag race again, it will probably be outlawed in the PRC (People's Republic of California) by Governor Moonbeam and the Alg !!!

Is this the first documented case of a Russian using the word: "y'all"?
Naah, it's just Texas-envy. :tejas:

Took me about 3 years of living here to adopt it, eventually becomes second nature. :dasauf:

Contrast Moonbeam with our Gov, he carries a gun and is a car guy :agree:

My Governor can outrun your party's next Presidential candidate in a marathon. (Racing! Racing! Keeping the thread on topic!)

Do any of you remember what Johnny Carson said about Clinton?

"It's not that he didn't inhale, it's that he didn't EXHALE!"

If somebody will commit to going I'll go. If not I'll probably not cause I'm still too busy and sleep deprived anyways. We really need to make an effort though. The miserable hot weather is gonna be here sooner than we think. And there are apparently no twilight dates this year either. Probably part of their "deal" that they had to make to get re-opened. They're gonna have to re-visit that part of the deal though cause there are too many of us who will simply refuse to attend anything but a Twilight during the miserable hot months.

Who's going this week-end?

I went on Saturday and we had a total of 5 MB's present... our two 500's and E420, our old E420, and someone else with a W211 E55 that managed a couple of 12.08 @ 117 runs despite spinning fresh Nitto drag radials at every launch. Pretty sure that was close to a record turnout for the MB's...

In Idaho of all places!

It really casts the So Cal crew in a pitiful light.
We know Sauceman will be back out there before long. As for everyone else, I dunno... maybe they're afraid it will be more fun than they can handle?

Perhaps you can get 600Eric to take his SL600 out for a fun night.... and captruff with the Brabus 6.5.

Nahhh.... Count me out for something like this. If I ever throw a ridiculously large turbo on the 606 (and a LSD) maybe as it would be fun to toy with people. As for the 600 although it is no slouch taking it to a drag slip would be like bringing a nice bottle of wine to McDonald's. However that doesn't mean I don't enjoy driving fast (captruff can vouch for that claim). On that note I have always wanted to go out to Nevada for this deal:

Being that is was the fastest sedan in the world when it was built, the Brabus car would definitely be right at home. I even think the 600 would be fun, especially with the top down. What you think Jeff???

Ole Unkie Ger Ger, always trying to stir shit up. OK, I'll bite:

I say he has to EARN the name by bringing it to the track!

I mean seriously, at this point, I'm quicker at the track with my 25-year-old M103 than he is! (Cause he hasn't even showed up yet!) I win by default! I say the name must be EARNED! :agree:
