Nice looking car for sale. Low mileage. Japan import
No pics from engine & chassis.
Also Mercedes logos shouldn't be attached since Oettinger wasn't official tuner for Mercedes and only manufacturers approved shops were authorized to use Mercedes logo in their cars.
Engine capacity Hanover – exclusive vehicles from Autohaus Rindt & Gaida GmbH.
We are delighted to present another fascinating vehicle:
the Mercedes-Benz 300TE-24V W124 – Oettinger 3600/24.
This example combines the legendary W124 series with one of Oettinger's most spectacular performance upgrades – a project that Oettinger himself lauds as his personal "technical masterpiece."
The final stage of the virtuoso performance enhancements of Benz engines in the 1980s was ignited by Oettinger in 1989 with the Oettinger 3600E/24V Kat, which was based on the "somewhat weak" (auto, motor und sport, 18/1990) factory four-valve engine. Oettinger himself described this engine as a technical masterpiece. Ultimately, the horsepower wizard was able to draw on two of his core competencies for optimization: increased displacement and his immense experience with four-valve technology. The basis of this unit (with a 90 mm bore and 94.5 mm stroke) was identical to the Oettinger 3600 E Kat, but the cylinder head and intake pipes were modified, the exhaust manifold was reworked for even better exhaust, and the compression ratio was increased to 10.3:1. The result: 275 hp at 6300 rpm and a torque o375 Nm at 5200 Nm. The performance (255 km/h top speed and acceleration to 100 km/h in under 7 seconds) made BMW M5 drivers pale. And the "auto, motor und sport" testers were also impressed. In issue 18/1990, the report stated: "Terrific pulling power is available in almost all engine speed ranges." The performance characteristics of the Oettinger engine allow for that composed and relaxed driving in the city or on winding country roads "that one often misses in a production Mercedes, especially in such situations." Personal driving impressions and reviews like these also convinced many celebrities, such as show host Frank Elstner, who was just as much a fan of the Oettinger Mercedes as His Highness Prince Agha Khan. According to our research, the Oettinger 3600/24 station wagon offered here was converted immediately after delivery and shows a mileage of just under 28,000 kilometers. According to the chassis number, the vehicle was ordered in 1990 as a standard 300TE-24 with an order location in Syria, a common way at the time to obtain a "catless" export version as the basis for the upcoming Oettinger conversion.
The vehicle was then exported to Japan, driven only sparingly, and then disappeared into a private collection for over 30 years. We found the vehicle, brought it back to Germany, and now offer it, freshly overhauled, visually in absolutely original condition, including German papers and, of course, a H-registration, ready for a Mercedes-Benz enthusiast for whom every special W124 is still far too ordinary!
If you have any questions about the vehicle, our sales team will be happy to help.
