No affiliation. This car is listed by Dean, but looks nothing like the usual Dean cars. This is a consignment deal. I'm surprised this is not being listed as a "Project", since it looks closer to "ran when parked" condition.

Odometer shows 67kkm (41kmi) but if that's accurate, maybe it was parked outside for a decade or two? I would expect the mechanical conditions matches the cosmetics. The fact that the owner decided not to fix the broken duovalve (which could result in full heat at all times), nor fix the window regulator, says a lot about what the new owner can expect. The paint meter readings were humorous, since it needs a complete repaint - the clearcoat is shot in multiple areas. No mention in the description of the headliner that is practically falling off the roof... or the visible condensation inside both headlights (which look like Japan-spec 500E lights?), which could mean corrosion on the reflectors. I expect there's plenty more that isn't mentioned. On the bright side, there's no reserve!

Japanese-Market 1991 Mercedes-Benz 300E 3.4 AMG​

This 1991 Mercedes-Benz 300E is an AMG Japan–modified sedan powered by a 3.4-liter M104 inline-six paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. The car is finished in Blue Black Metallic over black leather upholstery, and equipment includes 16″ AMG Aero I wheels, AMG aero elements, four-wheel disc brakes, and a Becker Indianapolis stereo head unit. The car was acquired by the owner in 2023, and subsequent service has included rebuilding the fuel distributor and replacing the fuel pumps, tank, injectors, ignition components, brake rotors, and pads. This AMG-modified W124 is now offered on dealer consignment in New Jersey with a clean Carfax report and a Pennsylvania title.​

The car is finished in Blue Black Metallic with matching lower cladding, bumper trim, and AMG badges. The seller notes that the passenger side has received paintwork, and the left fog light is missing. Service in 2023 reportedly included replacing the blinker relay, comfort control relay, and trunk rubber gasket.​

The 16″ AMG Aero I wheels were mounted with 205/55 front and 225/50 rear Ohtsu FP7000 tires in 2023. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes. The front and rear brake rotors and pads were replaced in 2023, along with a tie rod end.​

The cabin features black leather seats, wood trim, a power sunroof, and an AMG steering wheel. A Becker Indianapolis stereo head unit has been installed. The seller notes the air conditioning is not functional and the passenger-side front window is inoperative.​

The four-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel frames AMG-branded instrumentation including a 300-km/h speedometer, a 7k-rpm redline tachometer, an analog clock, and gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level. The six-digit odometer shows 67k kilometers (~42k miles), and the seller notes that [the odometer] is no longer operational.​

The M104 inline-six was bored and stroked to 3.4 liters by AMG and had a claimed output of 276 horsepower and 243 ft-lb of torque. Service in 2023 reportedly included changing the fluids, having the fuel distributor rebuilt at CIS Flowtech, and replacing the following components:​

• Fuel pumps
• Fuel filter
• Fuel hoses
• Used fuel tank <-- wow, the fuel system was so bad the TANK had to be replaced?
• Bosch fuel injectors and seals
• Right front hydraulic motor mount <-- only ONE mount changed?
• Bosch spark plugs
• Distributor cap and rotor
• Thermostat

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission. The Carfax report is free of accidents or other damage and lists registration history in Washington and Pennsylvania.​

I got so excited when I saw this car, the further I scrolled, the more disappointed I got. I really, really hope it goes to a good home.

Are these common rust spots for the sedans? What are these fuses strapped in for? Part of me wants to save this car...

I suspect those are headlight relays (for overwattage halogen bulbs) but there's no way to tell without tracing the wires.

Hi,

this 300E 3.4 is my car. I've bought it a little over 3 years ago with the intention of doing a full restoration to bring the old glory back.
Life, in this case Nov. 2024, got in the way and we couldn't see a bright future living in this country anymore.
For that reason we decided earlier this year to leave the USA and move to Slovenia.

At this time my wife and I had a car collection of 20 cars which had to go. We decided to take only two with us. The AMG car was not one of them.
Dean is a good friend of ours and we asked him if he would represent the car, which he did after a very spirited test drive on a PA rural road.

I would like to bring some light into the above mentioned topics:

The car was parked outside for quite some time
The Kilometer counter worked properly until about the last 100 Kms or so. I drove the car from PA to NJ with working odometer.
The car comes with charged AC and a used Duo Valve. We decided NOT to do anything to the car anymore after my wife and I made the
decision to sell it. The heat is NOT on full all the time. Same applies to the not working right front window.
All the other electric components incl. power antenna, door locks, seats, roof etc. work perfectly.
Mechanically we've brought the car into a very nice driving condition.
Yes, the paint is shot on the right front fender and right front door. If need be, the other areas could be saved, but for a full restoration, a complete
repaint would be needed.
Yes, it needs a new headliner.
There is no rust or accident damage on the car.
The headlights are Japan spec. 500E with umpteen relays. I could never get the inner high beams to light up.
One reflector is slightly dull, I don't recall which side, the other one is good.
Orig. extra Yanase and AMG stickers come with the car.

Someone will get a nice "project" , "blank canvas" or whatever you want to call it, but the bones are good, so is the mechanical condition.
It the AC were working, I wouldn't hesitate to drive this car across the country, but that's my opinion, which some might find a little too
over-confident. Nevertheless, when we moved from CA to PA in 2020, my wife drove our 1997 Toyota Century V12 and I drove our
1990 420 SEL, both loaded to the ceiling, across the country without any problems.

Let's see what happens tomorrow.
