I am looking for information on an AMG retailer called Custom Creations. Formerly located in San Gabriel, California. They specialized in AMG conversions.

I purchased this authentic AMG kitted, 1991 300e in January 2021. As I was going through the service history documents, I came across this receipt dated 3/14/1992 with a list of AMG upgrades. Some of the parts listed were:
- AMG front spoiler
- AMG side skirt set
- AMG 3 piece trunk spoiler
- 17” AMG wheels

I am eager to learn more about Custom Creations and discover more of their builds. If you have any information, please share.

I’ve attached some photos from my discovery of the car, present day progress, and the Custom Creations receipt that sparked this topic.

Thanks!

During this time in history, there were many retailers who could purchase these parts and install them. I was one of these as well, so was involved in putting together many vehicles just like this one. In the grand scheme of things, it means nothing. These retailers were not AMG, so there is no provenance to be had.

You do have a nice car with legit AMG parts on it, so it does add value to the car, plus you have the receipts to prove they are authentic AMG parts and not copies. You will never see big money for a car like this, but you can expect to see quite a bit more than if it were bone stock.

Nice looking car! Just curious, was the steering wheel downgraded in 1992, or more recently? Removing safety equipment is never a good idea, and that steering wheel isn't period correct IMO... thought AMG only used those non-airbag wheels in the 1980's? @2phast might know for sure.

From the pictures, the car had the standard 91 airbag steering wheel and he installed the Momo AMG wheel. You are correct that the Momo wheel was used mainly in the 80's and was phased out for the sportline AMG wheel (without airbag). The Sportline AMG wheel (non airbag) was used on the 1992 190E 3.2l and 300E 3.4l. At that time, AMG did not have an actual airbag wheel, so AMG converted cars were either kept with their original airbag wheel or the airbag Sportline wheel was retrofitted.. Wasn't till 1993 with the introduction of the C36, did they have a AMG branded wheel.
