Every now and then I'll go on a google search adventure. I recently came across that photo as well. One thing led to another and it's now posted on the thread that was already documented on this forum. It will go up for auction. Post here

Doesn't appear to be the same car:

1) Missing side repeaters on Reddit car as noted by hAMGurger above
2) I don't see the "AMG" badge on the left side of the ducktail on the Reddit car. Maybe it was added.
3) Reddit car has wide door/fender moulding, Gooding car has period-correct narrow moulding

Random Redditor is claiming it's a 6.0L but without a photo under the hood, there's nothing to substantiate this.

Anyone know what car this is?
I've never seen it in my database...

199U over Grey leather
Appears to have black M38 steering wheel
No side indicators
Recaros
three-piece ducktail
matching Aero I wheels

The reddit post was from someone who happened upon the car and took a photo. He is also the same one claiming its a 6.0l, there would be no way for him to determine that by just looking at a car parked on the street.

@2phast @gsxr

Fair point about the low bar of redditor car knowledge, and if I discount the clout-chasing aspects of social media where people post incorrect things to drive engagement.... three points make me think it is indeed a hammer....

1) the poster says that the owner came out and talked to him about the car and showed him the engine. The video he posted of the car driving away "now disabled" sounded like a V-8, not an inline-6. I'll see if I can get the video again and will repost here.

2) the interior appears to have Recaros in the back seat as well. extremely uncommon on lesser cars, and not very common on Hammers either....

3) its driving on expired plates, perhaps there is some consideration for the tremendous appreciation of a Hammer having grenade'd the guys insurance premiums OR mechanical problems that make it unhealthy. I work in the car trade and am constantly surprised by how cheap some of my clients are...

Ah, I missed the part about the owner showing the Redditor under the hood. Could be legit! :buggin:

@jhodg5ck - you recognize this car?

All I saw was his post about seeing it parked on the street, must of missed the part about him seeing the engine. I have never seen Recaros in the rear of a W124, maybe he was referring to the sporline Recaros.

This car has them (an an example); a few other hammers do too, but overall very rare still. Very similar or maybe exactly(?) same as sportline cars. What do you think?
