Description by seller, which Jono argued with..:
"It's like an AMG Hammer Jr. with two doors!" (Jono doesn't agree at all)
This 1992 Mercedes-Benz 300CE-24 is one of an estimated 25 examples converted to 3.4 AMG specification when new, with revisions to the M104.980 inline-six resulting in a displacement of 3.4-litres as well as claimed output of 272 horsepower. The conversion was carried out by AMG Germany, after which the car was delivered to AMG Japan, where it remained registered through the selling dealer’s purchase in 2025. It was subsequently imported to the US and now shows 134k kilometers (~83k miles). Finished in Blue-Black Metallic, the car features an AMG front spoiler, wide bodywork, and rear spoiler in addition to AMG multi-piece wheels and sport suspension. Inside, heated and power-adjustable Recaro Classic front bucket seats are accompanied by burl wood trim, air conditioning, cruise control, and a cassette stereo. An engine-out service performed in anticipation of the sale involved re-sealing a number of components as well as replacing the radiator, fuel accumulator, air pump, and starter. Additional work performed at that time included re-sealing the five-speed automatic gearbox, re-packing the front wheel bearings, flushing the brakes, and replacing the tires. This AMG-modified C124 300CE is now offered in San Diego, California, with Japanese-language service records, AMG documentation, and a clean Montana title.
The body is finished in Blue-Black Metallic (199) with a body-colored grille, mirrors, door handles, and moldings. AMG-specific bodywork includes widened front and rear fenders, color-keyed lower body cladding, a front spoiler, and a rear spoiler. A power sunroof, fog lights housed in the front valance, European-specification headlights with washers, and fender markers are further details.
Three-piece 17” AMG wheels combine body-colored centers with polished lips, and they were mounted in May 2026 with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires measuring 225/45 up front and 245/45 at the rear. Braking is handled by ventilated front and solid rear disc brakes with ABS. Service completed ahead of the sale involved re-packing the front wheel bearings, flushing the brakes, and re-sealing the power steering pump.
The cabin houses heated and power-adjustable Recaro Classic front sport seats trimmed in black leather that extends to the rear bench seat. Burl wood trim adorns the door panels, dash, center console, and shift knob, while black carpets topped with AMG mats line the floors. Additional appointments include automatic climate control, cruise control, a Technics cassette stereo, a heated rear window, and rear headrests. Creasing is present on the driver’s seat.
The wood- and leather-trimmed steering wheel fronts white AMG instrumentation includes a 300-km/h speedometer, a tachometer with a 7k-rpm redline, and a combination gauge monitoring fuel level, coolant temperature, and oil pressure. The six-digit odometer shows 134k kilometers (~83k miles). The headlight switch assembly was replaced in 2026.
The M104 DOHC inline-six was modified by AMG with a larger bore and a longer stroke for a displacement increase to 3.4 liters. The valvetrain was also fitted with AMG camshafts, contributing to claimed output of 272 horsepower, and the air filter housing is topped by an AMG-branded lid. An engine-out service completed in May 2026 involved re-sealing the front timing covers and replacing the valve cover and exhaust manifold gaskets along with the crankshaft seals. The air pump, starter, fuel accumulator, radiator, spark plugs, and a number of sensors were also replaced.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential. The gearbox was removed and re-sealed in May 2026, at which time the driveshaft center support and bearing were replaced. The AMG 3.4 package added a sport exhaust system with dual polished outlets as well as stiffened and lowered sport suspension.
The AMG Germany Statement of Warranty is addressed to AMG Japan and dated September 17, 1991. It notes the engine conversion and lists the engine number as 10498012029183, which corresponds with the number displayed on the AMG data plate shown in the gallery below.
The Carfax report is free of any accidents or other reported damage with an initial entry in April 2026.
The car has not passed a California emissions test.
