FOR SALE 1992 500E, Black/Black, 150kkm, £22k, restored by Raikku (Located somewhere in Poland)

The Japanese import numbers are in the Wiki. They are not too dissimilar to US import numbers, but a bit fewer, I think.

Most of the guys here that i know own A 5E rarely drive them. The guys down south Osaka drive there the most and still rare. The people that do own them take good care of the car and most like have bank to do so. The few that own them just to bein that club and dont have bank, the car just be sitting for years. Its more of a prestige thing here. If you do buy one from here its best to get one that has recent Shaken. Ive notice the ones that do not have recent shaken issues. You can see it on the auction data sheet. But if you like me and do all your own work you can get nice ones with minor things wrong, and minor things are huge things to japanese because theydo not know how to fix and the small niche market of mechanics who still alive thag work on these cars charge more than arm and leg. My friend that has garrage here that works on 90s benz bugs me out. Lol He undercover envy me and don't like me to drive my car to his shop because all his customer want to talk to me about things he charging 5 grand for i do for myself 200. But i not tell them, he good allie! I bought my car 3 years ago from owner 88000mile for 19k in yen, rate was better then so about 17k dollars. And he sold it for most reason all them sell for, tax is higher on older car and no one to fix it. But lately they getting smart auction off to foreigners but also gettin greedy on price cause popularity inflation, lol. But some owners still not on game yet, i see them on yahoo japan auctions for steal prices every ounce in a while
That's exactly the impression that I got when I was in Japan.
Mercedes is a European "exotic" car , so charge the owner an arm & a leg for work on it.
I also vintage raced in Tsukuba in a Lotus 23B & a Formula Ford (supplied by a good friend of mine) & the cost of racing was horrendous

Many thanks Provet, nice to get some first hand info (y)

Hello Provet,

Do you have statistics on the number of cars still left in Japan? the number of cars that went on the Export auctions is huge and it does not seem to end.
There are dozens of japan import 500E for sale in Germany, dozens were imported to the Gulf, probably most ended in Russia.

And why do most cars in the auctions have 85-87k km ??
I do not have the stats, i will ask my buddy if he can get history. These cars here only have that amount of milage is because they are not driven. For the most part they sitting in someones garrage for ever. They do not get JCI (Shaken) because its expensive for older cars. Shaken only last two years, then renew. You may think its not ending, but alot i seen are recycles, not sold, and wait a year or month or whatever and run through auction again

Anybody want to buy this Mercedes of me let me know 17k and it’s yours

This car got a lot of attention here in the past and people are curious about the repair of that rear end damage. So it would be nice to see some pics and see the condition on it.

(Dave, I somehow failed at trying to edit this post and add your quote when writing it.. as I forgot to embed it before saving/posting in my first attempt)

If I am not wrong (and recognised picture 5/5 at first posts on owner's thread correctly - opened by @Greg1980 after his purchase, where last restoration performed by him is fully described too) this car has following VIN = WDB1240361B631535

VIN Database has been now completed with comments to this car (Japan delivery, rear-damage when getting hit by lorry in UK, plus works done by member Raikku / +2018 sadly) during his previous ownership.
