To all performance Mercedes Lovers,
I have up for sale my beloved 1992 500E. I am a US Navy sailor living in Charleston, SC. I am a Nuclear Specialist in the Navy, and as such, I have limited time to work on my cars. Plus, the 500E requires special care in terms of diagnostics and tools, especially regarding the M119 engine. Now I'd like to provide details about the car: It has 176,XXX miles and has never been in an accident. The paint is Blue-Black Metallic (paint code 199) over a black leather interior.
I have 3 sets of factory wheels to go with the car. Two 500E sets(One set is chrome, the other painted) plus a set of winter tires mounted on narrower factory Mercedes-Benz wheels. I also have a wealth of spares (mainly electrics- 2 Becker GP factory radios, various fuses, a new dash-mounted AC unit, radiator fans, amongst many other parts). The car has BRAND NEW tires mounted on the Painted 500E alloys which are on the car. The tires are Cooper Zeon Sports and they are staggered (225/55/R16 front and 245/50/R16 rear). The car has had new rear suspension air components installed recently, as well as a new wiring harness (a common weakness for 500E's). The car has a custom-made exhaust as well as a RENNTECH software upgrade from it's first owner. The Recaro leather seats are in absolutely perfect condition (all 4) and shine beatifully.
Now, the car does need a few things...the rear trunklid needs paint. The first owner mounted a CB antenna on the trunk, and as it slid around, it scraped the paint. So, a repaint or simple W124 replacement is needed. The rest of the body is solid with NO RUST and decent (but not perfect) paint. The interior driver's door panel needs the pull-handle reattached, but I have it to go with the car. That's all for it's cosmetic needs. As far as drivability, the car is currently in limp mode and needs, according to the SDS (Mercedes Diagnostic), a new throttle position motor. As I understand it, this is a common issue. Other than that, the car runs and drives perfectly.
It is quite a beast, sounds billiant, and rides smooth as silk with the new rear suspension air components. I want this car to go to someone who will care for it and restore it to glory. I wish I could, but my Navy schedule doesn't allow me the needed time, plus I have a cross-country move to Washington (state, not DC) coming up soon. I am asking $7,000.00 or best offer for the car, and I am more than willing to entertain trade offers. I am a european car Lover, so anything fun from across the pond might interest me. I will include my contact information below, and will provide photos via text message upon request. I thank you for your consideration, and please, someone give my baby a loving home.
Very Respectfully,
