1992 500E Odometer stopped working

Speedometer works but no the odometer. I checked Youtube and there are a number of videos on repairs for a Mercedes 124. The all have a speedo cable that one disconnects to remove the dash. My 500E does not appear to have a mechanical cable. Any lead on fixing this problem on a 500E

Sounds like one of the plastic odometer gears failed. It's a DIY repair, or you can send it to a VDO shop. Click the link below for details on how to buy & replace the broken gears:

124's with V8 engines have electronic speedometers, no speedo cable. It's a MUCH better gauge assembly than the mechanical version.
