Hello E500E wizards, I'm in the process of purchasing this vehicle and need some outside input from people "in the know" 😁😁😁

The car is in Germany, the previous owner comes from Bulgaria. The car has an AMG specific VIN. I have a copy of the registration in Balgarian that does say that it's in fact an E60. I'm confused by the front bumper and a hood that seems to be from a later model car. It does show 55K km on the clock which I have no confidence is accurate. How do I verify that M119 is actually 6.0 without physically measuring the displacement? Any input is appreciated. Thank you

I have a copy of the registration in Balgarian that does say that it's in fact an E60.
It's not an E60. That designation would only apply to facelift cars manufactured as of around 07/1993. More accurately, this is a 1992 300TE 6.0L, or if you wanted to get creative, maybe a 600TE.

I'm confused by the front bumper and a hood that seems to be from a later model car.
Someone replaced the hood and headlights with the facelift style, and also installed a Gen2 front bumper, which is correct for facelift cars (but not a 1992 car). The side skirts are also AMG but I can't tell if they are Gen1 or Gen2 without better photos. Rear bumper is AMG as well.

It does show 55K km on the clock which I have no confidence is accurate.
Best to assume it's NOT accurate.

How do I verify that M119 is actually 6.0 without physically measuring the displacement?
The best way is measuring the stroke through the spark plug hole, which is foolproof.

Second best is a dyno test, but a 6L engine that isn't running properly will not show full power... so this only works if it's running as it should.

@jhodg5ck probably has more input.

Everything I see is correct for the year, except of course the hood, front bumper and headlights. You can check the engine for the AMG stamp, which would also indicate the displacement. You can further determine what was originally installed on the vehicle by decoding the VIN.AMG%20engine%20stamp.jpgStampAMG.jpgEngine%20number.JPG

This was already mentioned earlier.
And along with Jono's car, I would count it as 1 of 3 Hammers.
2 of M119.960 and @jhodg5ck M117.968
and a link to 3 Hammer - FS: S124 300TE AMG M119 6.0L, Nachtgrün, €59k | W124 AMG & Tuner Cars

That is the engine number on my '92 with 6.0, which was converted by AMG back in 1994.

on the intake cam in between two of the lobes stamped on the core of the cam it should say "AMG"
Right, that is a very simple check to do - just open the oil filler cap and turn the engine until the AMG marking appears on the camshaft.
