No affiliation. Originally listed for $3500, price drop to $3200, then to $3000 by mid-September, $2900 late September, $2650 late October, $2500 as of Nov-1, $2400 on Jan-4, 2025.

UPDATE: Sold March 2025, see post $12 below.

Seller seems unwilling to send additional photos to interested parties. Looks like a screaming deal on a rare-color 034, if you aren't allergic to (relatively) big numbers on the odo. Pity it has no optional equipment (no ASR, no bun warmers).

1993 Mercedes-Benz 400E - $3,200 (Happy Valley)

I am testing the waters to see if there is any interest in my 1993 Mercedes 400E. I am the third owner since March of 2023 (the first owner sold this car to his friend around 2021). It has been meticulously maintained its entire life. Everything is original Mercedes besides the battery and radio, it still has the original first aid kit. No problems passing DEQ when I took in last May. Engine runs so smooth I've had to double check to see if it was running while waiting at red lights.
Mechanics and Drivability:
-The upper and lower wiring harnesses have been changed to the more durable type
-Tires have about 5k on them [Edit - tires in photos are Les Schwab specials]
-Battery was replaced in May 2023
-Serpentine belt replaced in June 2023
-Aspirator motor, shift grommet, and new oil change performed in November 2023
-Distributer, spark plugs, and wires replaced slightly before I took ownership
-Does not hold window washer fluid
Interior:
-Seats have some creases but no tears
-Dash and plastics are black and vibrant
-Headliner could use some fixing up as it sags a few inches in a couple of places
-Sheet of leather on the driver side seatbelt pillar has a tear
Exterior:
-There are some rock chips on the front and side mirrors, most of them filled in
-Rear driver side quarter panel has some clear coat peeling (it has gotten bigger since pictures were taken, will update pictures soon)
-It has swirl and scratch marks but nothing basic paint correction can't fix
I will update this post as I get more pictures and look over the maintenance records. Please email me with serious inquiries. Not open to negotiations through emails. Thank you.

Hi there. New to the forum, but always been a fan of these cars and am now looking to purchase one (this one in the post actually).
I'm a little wary about this seller though, since in doing research on the car I came across this post and noticed he's listed this 400E several times before and keeps dropping the price. I've reached out to them, but starting to wonder if it's a scam. Did the seller ever respond to you back in September?

Thanks for any info you can provide.

It does not appear to be a scam, but I don't know if the seller is particularly helpful. @kegmankipp contacted the seller and asked for more photos and the seller never replied. Seems the seller just wants someone to come to his house with cash and not ask any questions, and the price has to keep dropping to find that particular buyer. Let us know if you work out a deal...

:watchdrama:

Hi, I have seen and driven this car in August and made an offer on it then, which was not accepted. I have owned a couple w124s in the past, 300e & e320, but this would be my first v8 Mercedes if I can make the deal. I have several older euro cars and do my own maintenance and repairs.

This car is misfiring and was sitting for some time. Photos are about a year old and the car has been sitting outdoors on the side of a house. The car has had a total loss in 2006 according to the carfax. I live about 7 mins away from where the car is located. Edit: wanted to add: I first saved this ad in April, same ad details since at least then.

Odd that the AutoCheck doesn't show the total loss. What did the seller have to say about this, since it's listed as a clean title?

Asking price was $3500 back in August when you looked at the car, how low was your offer? The price has dropped since then. Misfiring should be an easy fix, not necessarily cheap though depending how many components need replacement. Helps with price negotiations if it's still misfiring though.

Could be a coincidence, but a car exactly identical to this was for sale in Washington State for a long time, on FB Marketplace. The ad disappeared maybe 8 months ago?
Seller said it had engine electrical issues.
I don't recall the price.
In that ad, the car had been sitting for years

There was this car in Washington, also a 1992 400E in Signal Red, similar odometer, but with black interior... that one sold to a forum member.

Also it drives incredibly solidly. I drove it 150 miles home immediately. It had sat for a while, there was some moss buildup and spiders on the outside.
There is a pinhole exhaust leak somewhere up top.
I really dont think its misfiring. The engine is quiet, powerful and steady.
The electrics seem good. Nothing crumbles in the hand or seems odd.
