No affiliation. Pity the headlights are not correct 036 Euro lights, but at least the wipers are correct, and the lights are AL (Bosch), not offshore copies. The recovered headliner seems a bit lumpy was not reinstalled properly, you can see a gap hanging down at the rear of the sunroof opening - not sure what's going on there. New coolant reservoir (NLA) is a nice bonus, and both harnesses have been done, along with a pile of other work. Full stock exhaust is present including factory cats - another Good Thing. Some rust visible on the catalyst heat shield. I hope that $1395 to Fenton was for more than two ZoomTubes, a water pump, and lower harness (ouch!). RMT "remanufactured" the rear shocks, which likely means they did nothing, as discussed in the RMT thread elsewhere on the forum - but if they aren't leaking or rattling, it's not a big deal.

Generally looks like a nice example overall, well maintained, low odometer, rare color combo too. Should be fun to watch this one.

This 1993 Mercedes-Benz 500E is one of 1,596 that was produced for this model year. The seller acquired the car two years ago from the previous owner who owned it for 20 years. It was parked for two years prior to his purchase due to a bad water pump the previous owner never got around to fixing. This W124.036 now shows just over 95k miles from new and currently resides in Meridian, Mississippi. Finished in Black Pearl Metallic (199) over Beige Leather (275) upholstery, power is provided by a 5.0-liter M119 V8 paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes factory alloy wheels, a power sunroof, fog lights, Automatic Slip Control, automatic climate control, a Becker cassette stereo with integrated bluetooth, heated power-adjustable front seats, and cruise control. Maintenance performed under the current stewardship includes, suspension refresh including new rebuilt rear shocks, belts/pullies, brakes with stainless steel lines, water pump, ignition service, remanufactured throttle body, alternator, power steering hoses, refinished wood, rebuilt amplifiers, new tires, refinished wheels, and so much more. All three wiring harnesses have been retrofitted. This W124 500E is now offered with the owner’s manual, thorough service records, a tool kit, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Mississippi title.

The body is finished in Black Pearl Metallic (199) with grey lower cladding. The 500E was assembled at Porsche and featured wheel arch flares, revised bodywork, modified transmission tunnel, widened frame rails, and a lower ride height when compared to standard W124 models. Additional exterior features include Euro-spec 500E-specific headlights with wipers, amber corner lenses, integrated fog lights, a retractable antenna, and a power sunroof. The seller notes the front bumper impact strip is showing some wear. The windows are tinted with Xpel with a 35% polarization all the way around and 70% on the windshield.

The car wears factory 16" 8-hole alloy wheels that were built specifically for the W124.036 to fit with the factory widebody kit. All four are mounted with Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 Plus tires measuring 225/55 all around. The car is equipped with Automatic Slip Control (ASR) and braking is handled by four-wheel ventilated discs.The current owner did a full suspension refresh and brakes including:

Burl wood trim adorns the dashboard, center console that have been refinished by Madera Concepts, and each door. A new headliner has been installed by the current owner and the car retains its original floor mats. The original mobile phone can be seen in the center armrest.

The four-spoke Speedline leather-wrapped steering wheel frames a 160-mph speedometer, a tachometer with a 6k-rpm redline, an analog clock, and gauges for oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The six-digit odometer shows 95k miles.

The 5.0-liter M119 DOHC V8 was factory rated at 322 horsepower and 354 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission. The most recent services performed by the current owner are:

The Carfax report shows the first entry in September 1993 when a title was issued. There are no accidents or damage reported and registration history shows Texas, Loiusiana, and no Mississippi. The MB Market Insights​

The 500E/E500 is one of our favorite sedans of all time. There, we said it. You probably think it is true as well if you’re reading this. We’re also Porsche enthusiasts, so the W124.036 is the perfect blend of two Stuttgart brands we revere. The engineering and logistic story behind the car makes them truly special and the performance backs it up. This 500E is such a sweet spot of not having too many miles, is in the right color, and has been combed through by the current owner having fixed all of the niggly little .036 issues that comes with the territory. Wiring harnesses are the biggest enemy of a 500E and one that spooks a lot of buyers if it hasn’t been done. The refinished wheels, quality window tint, good tires (the Continental is the best tire available in that size), new headliner, and mechanical work are huge pluses. Taking a car to a shop to have all of the work done that the owner did on this would be in excess of $10,000 easily. This appears to be a clean example that is turn key and ready to drive with good documentation and provenance. If you’re in the market for a pre-facelift, this is the one.

Thanks for making the post @gsxr. Happy to answer any questions. Been a long time member and own another 124036 so know these cars well. Downsizing the collection. Someone will get a car with majority if not all deferred maintenance done.

There is no delay in engaging reverse, no rear glass delamination.

Yes, Mr. Fenton was expensive but didn’t have much choice. All parts from the dealer or OE equivalent. Parts are very scarce. Rebuilding the front controls arms with bushings and ball joints from the dealer. I was surprised the motor mounts had “BBB” stamping.

The rear shocks were sent back to RMT 3 times and finally riding smooth. Headliner looks fine in person, not sure why pics made it look lumpy. It is secured at rear of sunroof and installed properly.

Sad to see you are selling, but nice to see so much work invested in getting the car properly sorted! I didn't realize you had to send the rear shocks to RMT three times - that's crazy. You should post more info on the RMT thread (link). At least it's all fixed now.

BTW - screenshot below of what I saw in the photos. There's a "lip" at the front of the headliner that should hold it up against the sunroof frame. Looks like it just needs to be seated properly, unless the photos were taken prior to this being attached.
