The theory behind the "fluted" 116, 123, 107, 201, 126, 124, 129, 140 tail-lamps is that the design with the recesses and extended horizontal "bars" is so that accumulated dirt and snow do not obscure the lamps. The recessed areas will not accumulate the dirt/snow and thus will continue to glow/shine when the brakes are applied, even if the rest of the rear of the car is badly obscured with grime, dirt or snow.

I think it is debatable whether this works or not, but it's a nice thought, and nice to know that MB was thinking differently than most manufacturers along these lines.

Hood rubbers have a nice new home, where they are well appreciated. Hopefully someone like Kurth will make them again so that they are available and will be reasonably priced.

Under 2 hours left, $42k current bid. George (previous owner) spent ~$8k getting it sorted out after the 2016 purchase, so it may not have a ton of needs presently. More info here.

I'm curious why George traded it in to a dealer... and since George and both recent dealers were all located in Chicago, why does the car have an Arkansas title as of two months ago, and no Illinois titles or registrations?
