Finished in Spruce Green Metallic (249) over Beige Leather (265), power is provided by a 4.2-liter M119 V8 paired with a four-speed automatic transmission driving the rear wheels. Factory equipment includes a power sliding sunroof, headlamps wiper/washers, central locking, power front seats, automatic climate control, stamped Mercedes-Benz service booklet, and a Becker radio. Documented service history is included with the car with lots of recent maintenance consisting of an engine oil change, new Michelin tires, complete brake system overhaul, new headliner, power steering service, fuel system refresh, all new wiring harnesses, and much more. This 1994 E420 is now offered for sale by the 2nd owner with the original tool kit, manufacturer’s literature, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Georgia title.
The body is finished in Spruce Green Metallic (249) with contrasting Tropical Green Metallic (6856) lower body cladding. Exterior features include a power tilt/slide sunroof, headlamp wiper/washers, power adjustable door mirrors, heated rear glass and central locking. The seller notes some minor scratches on the lower cladding pictured in the gallery. The paint meters as original per the photos. A full paint correction and ceramic coat with CARPRO QUARTZ have just been performed on the entire car and new [aftermarket] rear view mirror boots have been installed with a rebuilt antenna assembly complete with grommet. New dealer ordered jack cover plates have been painted and installed on the car as well as new [aftermarket] rubber trunk stops.
The 15” 8-hole alloy wheels are fitted with a brand new set of Michelin Defender tires measuring 195/65 with 2023 date codes. The OEM wheels show no curb rash and good paint including detailed backside photos. The seller notes that all four corners have new brake pads, sensors, and rotors along with ATE DOT 4 brake fluid. A full-size spare is fitted in the trunk along with the original tool kit and factory jack.
The cabin is upholstered in Parchment Leather (265) with a contrasting black upper dashboard and Burl Walnut wood trim which lines the center console, dash and door panels with the wood showing no signs of UV damage and one minor crack in the center console veneer. Both front seats offer 10-way power adjustability with two-position memory for the driver. The rheostat has been serviced and a new [Meyle China] headlight switch was installed. Additional features include a power-adjustable steering column, automatic climate control, operational cruise control, and a Becker Grand Prix Radio. Original matching floor mats are included with the car and a new headliner was installed. The seller reports minor wear on the center armrest in the gallery and a new Mercedes-Benz rear view mirror has been installed.
The four-spoke leather wrapped steering wheel fronts a 160-mph speedometer along with a 7k-rpm tachometer, an analog clock and gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature and oil pressure. A digital outside temperature sensor is mounted at the bottom of the cluster and is reported to be inoperational [sic]. The six-digit odometer shows 57k miles from new. New odometer gears have been installed. The seller states it broke when they pressed the reset on the way home from work and they logged approximately 15 miles without it turning. [GSXR edit: Pressing reset should not break the gears... old wive's tale etc.]

The MB Market Insights
With the recent inflation of 500E/E500 prices, enthusiasts have been turning to the more affordable younger brother: the 400E/E420 as means to have 80% of the experience for half of the price. There’s still one issue with getting into one of these M119 powered W124s and that’s the rarity of finding well kept examples. With only 4,800 E420s produced in 1994, low mileage clean examples hardly ever surface as these were $6,000 cars ten years ago while the E500 has always retained its collector value making them more commonplace now. In conclusion, not many E420s have survived. This one owner, garage kept, very original, rare Malachite Green Metallic on tan 1994 E420 is probably one of only a handful in existence in the US in this kind of collector condition. The face-lift E420s got a new hood/grill design with full glass headlights, cleaner lower cladding getting rid of the black plastic impact strips of the 400E, and an updated 2.24 rear end that helped with highway cruising. These are deeply satisfying and fun cars to operate as the W124 is arguably the best car Mercedes-Benz ever produced with the motorsports derived, hand-assembled M119 being the cherry on top of this collector example that has seen a lot of recent services (including new wiring harnesses) to get this example dialed in for the next owner.
