I last had record of this car in my personal database from May, 2011. At that time, the car was located in the Dallas, TX area and had 75,380 miles on it. It was being offered on AutoTrader for $19,995. I have attached a PDF copy of the AutoTrader sale from 2011.

My notation for the car is as follows: "Asking $19,995. Dealer is Texas Motors Ford. Evo II wheels, tinted windows; dealer label on trunk above E500 logo; rear antenna does not appear to retract; rubber front floor mats. Otherwise appears in exc condition and needing little. Solid, solid car. Bit overpriced. No description of actual car given, only story of the car's development."

My observation on this car, as it presently stands, are as follows:

• There is some BAD rust in the battery compartment in the trunk. It's almost perforated through from below, so there will be some major work needed to remedy that situation
• There is some modest rust on the undercarriage
• Interior seems like it has a LOT more wear than the car's indicated 99K miles should show. The front and rear seats show wear; the steering wheel shows major wear; and the center armrest box shows some significant wear.
• Cheesy "faux German" license plate on the front
• Evo II wheels are a nice touch.
• Interior and engine bay could have used a THOROUGH detailing before this car went up for sale. This will hurt the car's final auction price; particularly the dingy interior.
• Rubber floor mats
• Upper strut mounts BADLY cracked and in need of immediate replacement (auction indicates they will be replaced)
• Typical peeling door pocket vinyl -- not much to see there
• Look to me like cheesy aftermarket eBay tail lights/lenses,
• Looks like a major tear and paint work on front spoiler -- major work needed there
• De-badged, from 2011 listing
• Tasteful tinting, which is nice to see
• Front passenger-side airbag was removed and not properly replaced in position
• Becker radio could use a thorough refurbishment and new volume knob
• Very very dingy/dirty interior
• Center console cracked wood
• Center console peeling vinyl needs to be remedied
• Weird scuffs and scratches on rear seat leather -- atypical for these cars
• Plastic reservoirs (coolant overflow, SLS fluid, windshield washer fluid) could all use replacement

Are the SLS reservoirs now available? Last time I checked, it was NLA. Love to see that stays changed back.

Headliner was redone, without doing the sunroof panel. Lazy and makes the already subpar interior look even more odd.

The car is also missing the gray clips that hold the inboard ends of the sun visors. Meaning that the lamps on the vanity mirrors won't work.

Seller needs to spend $20 and buy the ones I have for sale here on the forum....

Hello All,

I am the owner of the vehicle! I appreciate all the input so far as I know this board has a wealth of knowledge! I do have the visor clips and they will be installed today. New E500 badge is included in sale. There is actually not a tear in the front spoiler it just needs to be painted. I will upload a better picture for verification. The headliner was done prior to my purchase of the vehicle, but I actually do have the original headliner material to go along with the sale of the vehicle if the new owner would like to have it done correctly. Interior detail will also be completed before new owner takes delivery.

$17K final + fees. Someone got a decent deal on a 100K mile car. It still going to need $10K to get everything up to snuff (per the standard rule), but congrats to the buyer.

Too bad this one was a victim of pretty horrible economic timing.

Unfortunately. I just bought a car in Seattle and I'm now trying to figure out how to get it here to Texas before I get my rear handed to me on auction lot storage fees.
